Context is everything. If it were for the overall win he would have emptied the reserves and doubtless a different outcome was assured. Remember he'll win this in training mode as a first build-up to the Tour.Pog's interview makes it clear (from 0:45), he seems pretty honest in his post-race interviews:
"after first acceleration I saw he (Lenny) was super good so it was no sense to try to drop him because maybe I would explode"
"hard transition from small climbs to hard climbs"
So he simply wasn't good enough to drop all guys comfortably.

of course really good. He didnt need more in a stage like this with headwind at the end with more stages to win the race..If people dont follow ok, and it so,me people follow the same.Since when 6.5w/kg is low for 28 minutes? This was a very good pace while not going all out
I don't think the stage would have been boring without a rider like Pog but it would have been different. There would still have been attacks from people who wanted to get in a break to win the stage for example or people attacking on the downhill to get away from the others etc.We must be happy we have a rider as Pogacar who attack from far whenever the race or situation, other way a stage like this could have been very boring. and I think all this ypung riders emerging are going to copy this way, becouse they have him as mirror (and another riders as well)
But he wonImagine if Remco said this...Excuses!
That jersey without sponsor is beautiful. It looks like a vintage jersey.Pog's interview makes it clear (from 0:45), he seems pretty honest in his post-race interviews:

Except a powerfull team, maybe in this case Ineos, controlled the race as they used to at Sky. But yes, for today surely you are right, there isnot a super team, and of course at least Lenny and maybe Nordaugh, could have avoid any control. But with a good team and a decent leader with some sprint, or you have riders as Pogacar or the race would be quite boring,. Meybe no for me who enjoy almost every kind of stage (although we are used to this kind of develops last year, so I dont know) but for must cycling fans or casual espectators.I don't think the stage would have been boring without a rider like Pog but it would have been different. There would still have been attacks from people who wanted to get in a break to win the stage for example or people attacking on the downhill to get away from the others etc.
The quick look at Matinez when he got the gap was interesting as it was still a long way from the finish considering the descending. I've ridden those incredible roads up to Lac Emossan...it's a brute and one of the most beautiful in the World looking at Mt Blanc. The descent is pristine and perfect Swiss corners!Context is everything. If it were for the overall win he would have emptied the reserves and doubtless a different outcome was assured. There are no bonus seconds at the intermediate sprints in this race.
In that case it’s going to be really difficult. Can’t imagine him dropping him Pogacar, so he needs to win a couple of stages which is a bit unrealisticno bonus seconds in intermediate sprints here
NOrdhagen chased them last part of mountain and catched them alone downhill, he weights 58kg and looks like he is 12 years old, when he catched the trio finally he went right up to pog to say he wanted to cooperate; then pog went and took a massive leadout- The respect pog showed NOrdhagen after the finish line was sincere, he didnt thank the others.. Nordhagen had a bigger reason and claim to sit on wheel after his struggle, but he didnt..Imagine if Remco said this...Excuses!
Not only that but he prob gained some seconds on his contenders back in the group by attacking early, when ur 58 kg and the finish line is 200 meters from a corner ur only chance is physics into the corner and out of it. But he could try 100 times different and still finish 4th is my conclusion xDThat was likely the best way for him to handle the sprint. Had he not gone to the front he could easily have been outsprinted and gotten a time gap to the others. Now they had to pass him and he got the same time.
Rogla lost seconds today.Congratulations to Tadej Pogačar for winning the stage.
RBH riding with an integrity and tactically sound and likely Rogla gained a second or two, on when Pogi forced Lipo to take one pull. I am happy that Lipo out sprinted the two riders that pulled. Tuckwell being there in the chasing group is encouraging. Martínez, like a couple of other climbers at RBH, underperforming. Both Rogla and Lipo still in favourable position and ready for stages to come.
Rogla is over his peak, its obvious. Maybe he can go back to Ski Jumping and win like his palRogla lost seconds today.
Rogla lost seconds today.
Today's stage result reveals the answer.Or maybe he gained a minute today. Who knows. We'll see at the end.
Today's stage result reveals the answer.
Ive never understood Rogla, ever.. He dont attack, he just sits there with his watts control .. Never attacks. Adrenaline is the legal doping in Cycling remember ..
Yeah, 21s. Reasonably good and still in the game. Compare that to some predictions, on where he basically retired already.
He will attack when that will make sense to do so.
Since ur danish and im Norwegian.. We have now only one danish-norwegian WT team, if you could pick 8 of the best danish and norwegian riders to win a TDF ; what would that team be like? Vingegaard ofc on top, so lets say 7 then.."When Pogacar suddenly became human," a headline reads on the frontpage of a big news and sports site here. It's written after his victory on today's stage. The journalists are really looking for every little crack in the Slovenian wall to a degree that it gets absurd. And they've done so for years now. Meanwhile Pogacar has become more and more dominant. 🙄
