Tour de Suisse (2.UWT), 9-17 June 2018

Horrible from Landa and quite bad from Quintana.

Another discipline (with cobbles, wind, sprinting, positioning and hilly finishes as others) where Valverde will be much, much better than his two co-captains.

But to be fair, Quintana did impress two days ago.

Valverde, though, hasn't yet met someone stronger than him in a mountain stage this year, and I don't see why he shouldn't have his normal level in the Tour.

Just don't make him work for the two others, that's all I'm asking.

And co-leader of Movistar Landa out of the top 10. LMAO
Landa will never win a GT unless they have NO TT kilometres in it or only a MTT. He is so piss poor at time trialling it's hilarious
His climbing isnt superior to anyone either. He's a middle of the pack climber with little/no tactical sense as seen in the 2 mountain stages.

Expected Kelderman to be far, far stronger.
Not a good performance
He was shaking his right arm, he has nerve damage there. I suspect that is still bothering him a lot in TT. So there is a good explanation of this.
Oh...okay.
I hope he gets that sorted before the TdF.
Not a good sign tbh.
Nope, definitely not. He said he still had some prickly feelings. But during the TT it was really obvious when he started shaking his right arm.

Good thing the Tour only has the TTT and one ITT. So in support of Dumoulin it should be ok.

quintana lost 55 seconds to porte on a flat tt...not bad
I don't agree.

Porte is not a flat TT specialist either. Porte best TT results come from hilly or mountain ITT's. Porte has had some horrible TT performances in flat TT in the past too.
I'd say it's a normal TT of Quintana, but not good enough when it comes to comparisons with the TDF.

Ohh...damn.
I thought he was going in as co-leader.
Is sunweb going with only one leader ie Domoulin? Wow.
They must have real confidence in Tom's recuperation abilities.

All in all, only one conclusion can be drawn from this race:

Very good showing from BMC.
Porte in fine form, just like the rest of the team.
Would be a real shame not to keep them together for the next season(s). They've presented themselves nicely.

I worry about the team tbh

Kung & GVA are great but climbers not there long enough....TJ ddint last long and de Marchi looked tired

He won't work till the mountains, and even then he'll go on attack I reckon, to put the pressure on Sky and whoever... He'll work for the other two only if he lose serious amount of time. He'll ride without any kind of pressure, and imo something special might happen because of that.

He won't unless he chooses to. The team basically lets him do what he wants anyway. He's the one going into the Tour with no pressure and no responsibility and the ability to race the Tour however he wishes to. Thing is, Sky made the comment two years ago that unless he loses 20 plus minutes they can't let him go otherwise he'll end up winning the whole thing. Also remember even if he does do some work he won't put himself into the red. He won't do that when riding for himself or for anyone else.

Valverde didn't ride either Suisse or Dauphine?

No. He was supposed to ride Suisse, but had a mild cold that wouldn't go away and wanted more time to get rid of it. So instead he went to Route d' whatever it's now called and had a bunch of fun there winning a stage going on the attack with LL Sanchez to try to help him get a podium and then after a 70K break almost won the sprint and did win the GC. He's also not very close to his peak.

I don't really know what you mean when you're talking about going into the red.

Of course he will do that, if you're talking about watt zones, otherwise he would be completely useless.

When you ride a mountain with the best you need to be giving your all.

Kelderman "This was a *CENSORED* time trial. I had no power and sat as a turd on the bike. It was a really bad time trial. I'm not happy about the result regardless if it was after a 3 month absence. I should have finished podium at least"

Glad it wasn't the typical dutch "oh yeah it sucked but i'm happy anyway but.." interview
