Its all Red Ricks fault:disappointed: If he didn't love the tennis so much we might get coverage. At least this year French Open didn't clash and cut into the Giro coverage.

Of course the French Open are a way bigger sport event than the TdS, so it's very understandable... But why, when there is coverage of the event, you wouldn't just show it in a stream, isn't, unless you know all the finances and contractual situations, I guess.

That is true. It wasn't like the Giro/Roland Garros clash where neutering the cycling coverage during the big mountain stages to show random first round matches between unknown players in front of a handful of spectators took precedence.

TdS is an important race and one the main stage races of the tier immediately below the Grand Tours but RG is one of the four Grand Slams in Tennis so I can understand prioritising but they already have tennis on 2 channels for about 8 plus hours a day and could easily use the second channel for 2 hours live coverage of TdS without tennis fans feeling deprived. I cant help feeling that part of the decision is driven by the commercial aim of flogging more Eurosport player and GCN Race Pass subscriptions in making more coverage premium pay only for live.

its a weak break, vdp will fire soon!
As awesome as that'd be, it'd also make a lot of sense for him to just race this normally to get back into road form, and then use all his firepower for the TdF to avoid having another Tirreno. Having said that, I just don't know if he knows how to hold back - if he sees a stage in any race he's going for it even if his team car is yelling "No Mathieu, No!".

One of the reasons why if i was ruling the world i would ban tennis under death penalty. I wonder what would happen if Garros was at the exact same time as Tour de France...

I know it's in a jokingly manner but err... That last climb is quite juicy and i believe MVdP may want to stay with the favourites to see, how well he climbs and if he stays then try to outsprint the group. It would be a fine benchmark before some more hilly TdF stages like the one in Morvan, Quillan (break?) or even Saint-Gaudu (most likely from a break).
