Problem is Almeida doesn't have the punch to attack on Splügenpass and create a gap that he extends on the long descent.

Gall can't descent.

And I'm not convinced Tao has awaked out of hibernation to do a long-range attack over the Splügenpass and win the Tour de Suisse in the mtt!

That´s interesting.
Do we have even more information about how the peleton took this last climb? The TV coverage really didn´t show anything about this. I assume, only the fastest guys who use Strava are on that list? The first 7 riders who are on that list had also been part of the 16 rider GC group, who finished together in the end. Would be interesting to know the times of the other 9 guys to know, who had been the strongest on that climb..
yeah, without paying for Strava, you can only see the Top 10 times (or need to check all profiles manually), and not everyone posts on Strava, of course.

There's another KOM for the early part of the climb, where Romo was fastest, 3s ahead of Almeida, and everyone else 8+s behind, so I guess he attacked first, but no idea if anyone else was with him/them. And it's also possible that they only were faster because they started the climb further behind in the peloton, of course.

That Splügenpass is 8,6km at 7,5% average. That's plenty to get a decent gap.
The problem is the 40km descend after that, so that stage seems better suited for a madman in a breakaway.

Breakaway masterclass from Rutsch and Schmid. Soft pedalling all day long and then go all out in the hill zone. don't know if it will be enough but they have a chance. The peleton can't go that fast up the climbs if multiple teams are going for their versatile sprinter.

Maybe almida is stronger than Pogacar but trying to hide it by bluffing before the tour and getting as bad GC result as possible here

Or maybe UAE have been bluffing and it was actually Almeida who rode in disguise on the stages Pogačar won in Dauphiné.

Maybe it rains and Adam Hansen gives us a proper Splügenpass MTF! ☠️

And we're live in lovely Switzerland and being I'm watching the race on SRF I'm reminded of the classic Samuel L. Jackson line from Pulp Fiction while listening to the Swiss commentators - English German, motherfucker, do you speak it?!🤣

75km to go

That's a bold statement.

looks like de Lie was dropped as well? Would be a surprise if not, after spending the whole stage behind yesterday, but I hadn't seen it mentioned.
