This ship has already sailed. Only question remaining is who can buy him out or if UAE buys out his contract.
Lots, tons of other options, and people always assume free market economic principles. UAE can just play it straight, keep Ayuso on the books, keep having staff and doctors say he needs additional rehab, trying to fit him into the schedule, nothing yet, we will get back to you, keep training, we will keep paying, call you when we need you. Ayuso will rip up contract, demand free market transfer and UAE can get off the hook by waiting him out.. Just let him stew alone and he will demand, beg to cancel contract. Visma could and should do the same with Cian Uijtdebroeks, just agree with everything he says, having a tough time fitting in, hard interactions with team, press, sport in general, keep training, here's your paycheck we will call you, looks like September or October. Kids family, agent, friends, ego will all be screaming that it's too early for forced retirement at 22 years old, himself and circle will do anything to get out of contract and race for another team. Cian slightly different, he will be going to another team and not thinking he is the problem, issues are internal that's why they follow him. Ayuso crashed and team, Juan all discovered that 2nd and 3rd string, that are reported getting paid just under @$800,000 are as good at cheaper price. Like buying store brand Ketchup or beer to find out it's just as good.. If UAE tells Ayuso his first race back is in China, Tour Down Under and then we'll see, he would freak out.

Almeida losing 3 minutes in the first stage ended up being the best thing that could have happened to this race, it was very entertaining overall.

Almeida continues his superb season by winning his third WT one week race of 2025 in dominant fashion. I think he should target winning the remaining 4 in the future.

Vauquelin did a very good race too, his climbing level has improved but the high mountains are still a weakness of him as demonstrated today.

Happy to see Onley on the final podium and winning a stage after a few bad crashes, hope that he remains injury free to keep growing.

Gall with a really strong finish to this race, looks in shape to fight for a top10 in the Tour again unlike O'Connor who is not looking good at all.

Good to see Alapphilipe with some solid climbing performances in the road stages even though he struggled today.

The weather in Paris-Nice is often bad, and we see the rain affecting Almeida.

The level in Dauphiné is always very high. It's difficult to win because at least one of the two Tour contenders will always be there.

Felix Gall was good today, but he lacks consistency. He's also very bad at descending and positioning.
It's very difficult to be top 10 in the Tour again with those flaws.

Sounds like a good plan. Except for Cian. He might as well just sit and collect pay. He isn't winning anything anywhere else.

Del Toro will probably lead the Giro with Almeida. Where is Ayuso going? Lead the Vuelta?
As someone who just wants to be entertained, I'm hoping deep down that all 3 will go to the Giro and they let them sort it out on the road, though unlikely I admit. They have dug a bit of a hole for themselves with too many cowboys, and with Ayuso/IDT both on long and lucrative contracts I'm not sure any team has the kind of funding to pry anyone away, plus there's the issue of how much specialised knowledge they give to other teams when riders this high up the chain end up leaving. Perhaps Movistar with their new billionaire backer will work out a deal, but I doubt Ayuso will be wanting to take a large pay cut, even if he does end up on the ciciban schedule for the next 4 years at UAE. Almeida who's contract ends in 2026 could be the one to go. His coach, Sola, also coaches many other riders on other teams (Portuguese included), so I don't think it would be an issue if he carried on with Joao on another team.

The best thing for Ayuso to do at this point is to ride himself into the ground working for others in the smaller late season races to try and regain some credibility within the team.
