Last year he got blown away in Mallorca,Algarve and the Omloop as well... It's FEBRUARY. Gilbert peaks for LBL, not for Milan-San Remo...

Didnt you spent the whole winter arguing that he was going to peak for MSR and Ronde?

Well remembered.

Also, why was someone complaining that no-one was raving over Quintana - he finished 27 seconds behind on a 1 km climb.

JTN's name could only be more stereotypically british if he changed his first name to Nigel.

Au contraire. Not a lot of British in there at all. In fact none, now that I have googled Locke.

Depends how far you want to go back. John Locke was very much English, and 17th century heritage will do me.

All the best names are jewish anyway, that's just life.

Nope, I didn't. I said he should peak for the Ronde, but he will peak for LBL again. His decision, not mine, so your post really makes no sense. And as Jens said, it was mostly him doing that. I was actually reasoning against him saying Phil will be peaking for LBL again ;)

If I had to pick I'd let him peak for the Ronde though.

Peaking for San Remo, that would be the dumbest thing ever for a rider like Phil.

Oude Kwaremont yes, but I don't think he will be strong at San Remo. Just the usual attack from him there I guess.

Jewish as in Abramoff or Jewish as in Goldberg (which the Germans forced on to Jews in German lands in the 18th and 19th centuries).

How does it make no sense?

Its a simple question format. "Didn't you say that...".

The answer is either yes or no, but the question itself makes perfect sense:rolleyes:

Jewish as in any name in the bible (local translations accepted) as opposed to Peaches, Pixie, or any other *** apellations Bob Geldoff wants to sadle his offspring with.

He's clearly not in the shape he was at any time last season, fair, good or super.
No way last year, on that finish, would he have finished so far down.
I don't think the BMc management could reel him in to that extent.

I fully expect him to drop 1000 cq points, just from wearing the BMc colours, and return to being just exceptional, rather than ET!

Hard work ahead for the hype machine.

Pistelero thinks logic means whether or not he agrees, rather than whether or not the form of argument is valid. I thought we all knew that by now.

Jonathan 'People's Champion' Locke.

He is what the cycling needs. A new name, almost out of nowhere, but capable of such impressive preformances with lots of panache. And he has the charisma of a champion, is very easy to like him.

Aren't most modern(Western) names biblical?
Nope. Biblical names are common, but not more so than Germanic, Latin or Greek names.

Erm, the question was heavily implying something that was untrue. Just calling out on your BS. The fact that you answered Hitch' post with "good find" says all we need to know here ;)

Yeah, I actually meant to say common, my bad. My name is Latin for example.
Don't judge me, but I went through my FB friends list:

Latin names: 29
Biblical: 27
Greek: 19
Germanic: 10
Arabic: 3
Celtic: 2
Basque: 1

I reckon Germanic names are more popular over there.

Right, Tour du Haut Var! Hmm. Crazy results, huh?

It depends on what you consider Germanic I guess. My name, Joris, has a Latin origin(Georgius), but is obviously Germanized.

I wouldn't say the results are crazy, unless we ignore Tour de Med. BMC not looking great for the Omloop though

I went by the etymology. Obviously most names in my friends list are Latinized, including mine (which is originally Germanic).

Also your name is Greek, not Latin :p

Damn, I know it means farmer or something like that though :D

My name is both greek and appears in the bible (once I think).
Its a riddle which with your love of antiquity you should be able to solve.

Good luck;)

Pfft, I only read the New Testament and thought it was the most horrible book ever written

They should have let real Roman writers write that thing.
