Even when not in top form there really aren't many riders capable of challenging Gilbert on a finish like stage 2.

I think he'll win.
Did you forget about Tiernan-Locke?

I am sorry but I will have to do it again. Gilbert is in the race how can I not say that he has a chance. GILBERT FTW!!! The second stage looks perfect for gilbert.

I doubt a perfect stage in Gilbert's book contains an uphill finish with ramps up till 26% ;) He can win, but probably won't.

Dani Navarro FTW.

i had the same opinion until fleche wallonne last year.he can do it if he wants to.but to beat jon locke,it will be a difficult mission.

Gilbert can only win on such steep ramps if he has absolute topform like in FW last year. Normal Gilbert doesn't do well on these

This is hardly the Mur de Huy. Gilbert should be top favourite.

Like Dekker says, in good form and at his leanest, probably yes. I assume he carries a few extra pounds in February compared to April, so no, probably not.

But this finish is perfect for him, unlike the Mur.

Every time there's an uphill finish you guys say it's too hard for Phil. One day you might be right guys, one day... :p

I just don't think Phil is in great shape yet, his climbing last year in February wasn't spectacular and I don't suspect this year to be much different. He has a long season ahead of him.

Hushovd said that he will help Gilbert here, so he definitely has ambitions to go for the victory.

Stefan Denifl .
Interesting. He switched teams for this race alone? The Garzelli of Haut-Var.

Denifl wasn't scheduled to race but he said on twitter he is replacing a team mate (from vacansoleil :) ) with the flew, apparently there is a bit of a bug going around.
