Gesink actually hurled a bidon to a photographer on a motorbike. He said that the guy took about 2000 pictures of him and that ****ed him off.
He also said that it was ofcourse wrong of him to do so...... blabla

Old self.... Mwah. I ain't buying it yet.

Either way, he needs to be better than his 'old self' if he wants the type of result this Tour he was hoping form.

I think they might have reassessed those plans after his fall. However, with many of his rivals crashing out, he might just pull it off regardless.

Compared to last year, JVDB is out, Sanchez is even further behind due to a crash in the first stage and Mencov didn't participate. Of the guys that could put the pressure on, Wiggins is out, Brajkovic, Horner, Vino... basically that just leaves Evans, Basso, Klöden and Sanchez if he can regain some time. Doing as well as last year or better is actually very likely.

Never understood the girls here crying he should drop out and focus on the Vuelta tbh. He's still in front of Contador ffs, and wasn't he supposed to win the Tour? Even after falling 10 times.

With JVDB out, i'm hoping Gesink does a good job. He can take 2nd for all i care. Can't stand the schlecks and Evans. Hope De Weert can wiggle into the top 10.

If only Evans fails now, Gesink can't possibly miss this podium if he stays on his bike. Perhaps Samu... Klöden is injured as well and has no team at all.

Plus Gesink won't be super.

With old self I mean old self mentally. I doubt he'll have super form in the mountains. Good enough to go for white and top 10, but not enough to battle with a fit Basso, Schlecks and Evans. Or he must keep improving maybe..
Hard to tell, we'll see thursday

Who said that? I haven't read anyone here stating that he will win the tour. The objective was always to podium. I think every contender aims for the highest possible result and see where they end up.
The reason for the utterance for him to do the Vuelta is because he was being so negative about his whole situation saying he had no business there in his situation at the time. If he does not believe in himself how are the rest to believe in him?

For the record, I think Sanchez will take time out of Gesink in the mountains, I still feel the latter will not be at his very best come the mountains. The crash definitely put a dent in his progression towards the mountains. That's just my opinion though, we are resorted to waiting and seeing how it unravels.

JVDB has said he is still considering the Vuelta... The doctors said he couldn't ride a bike for 2 months. The Vuelta starts August 20th. If he starts he won't have any preparation. I wonder if he can actually do anything there, if he can actually start. How can he keep his basic form? I'm sure there will be excercices he can do within a few weeks but...

I hope he can start, but i have no idea what he could actually achieve. Top 10?
