Actually, is there a decent race on between the two?

If the Giro Dell'Emilia was on midweek, it would be like having an Italian version of Ardennes week at the end of the season. At least when the WC parcours is this hilly.
Milano-Torino is on the Wednesday between Worlds and Lombardia.

I wonder will that mean that nobody enters or takes it seriously if they do, or if it will add to the prestige of the race.

There is also the Gran Piemonte pre Lombardia

Anyway back on topic

Forecast for Sunday doesn't look great, nor monday, which is a shame as I am planning to go to the lakes to watch some of it.

The race could be really split apart in those first 2 days. Anyone who wants GC will have to start strong from the off.

It'll be great for those of us watching on TV though. :p

The Independent newspaper caught up with Quintana yesterday:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/cycling/cycling-nairo-quintana-hoping-to-rain-on-skys-tour-of-britain-parade-8815902.html

“It’s going to be fun taking on Sky again, too. They’ve got great riders and in a race as important as this one, it is going to be a good battle.”

“My initial objective is to build up for the World Championships, but if I can put on a good show in Britain, I will,” he promises.

“I’ve done a lot this year and whatever I get [in the Tour of Britain] is a bonus,” he insists. “But I’m not going to be resting on my laurels. I haven’t raced for a month and I’m hungry for wins.”

I think Visconti will be the best card to play for Movistar for a GC.
Rojas could also do well in a lot of stages.

Watch out for IAM Cycling, they're bringing a strong team:

61 Martin Elmiger (Swi)
62 Heinrich Haussler (Aus)
63 Reto Hollenstein (Swi)
64 Thomas Löfkvist (Swe)
65 Johann Tschopp (Swi)
66 Marcel Wyss (Swi)

I'm hoping Haussler can do something. Always have liked him, had some decent results at the start of year but some bad luck with his pelvis too.

There is a profile on the official site but it is very difficult to guess whether the final run to the line is a wall or a false flat. Does anyone have any local info? It looks like a rise of about 40 m at the end any way.

more or less a false flat, but on that roads it could still be interesting, especially with bad weather

It's only around 2-3% so nothing too challenging. The weather will be the big the hardest test today.

Thanks

Are you sure about that street view, that road is about 3 metres wide.

It will be one very insane sprint.
