Ruffoni could get a good contract for the next few years, but maybe 2 more years at Bardiani would be the best for him.

Nice try by Blythe. The only sprinter who tried to beat Kittel.

Watched the video. Looks like Blythe tried the same long sprint trick that worked at the London one-day race, but Kittel is just that bit stronger than Swift and the race was shorter so other sprinters were fresher.

I believe it's a little steeper than that so if guys like Boom, Kwiatkowski or Chavanel have a go I don't think they will make it.

Tiny bit of team car drafting by cav...

The live commentator said that this wasn't against the rules and that the cyclists are allowed to draft behind the cars up to the back of the rest of the team cars and they then have to make their own way. I was pretty sure this wasn't the case, but can someone confirm this?

As with many things in cycling, rather than there being rules or not rules, it's more about whether the rules that are there are enforced or not in practice.

in other words, if you are a big name home rider you can get away with anything!

Don't know the Great Orme climb near the finish that well but according to maymyride there is a 300 metre section of around 17%.

Swift seems to flatter to deceive. I imagine he'll find a way to get beat again

Everyone is at their own level.Cav (who i think is just terrific btw,a legend) said Swift is just a guy "who knows his level" Procycling magazine issue number can't remember but point being is that 3rd in MSR is no mug result, that fella has worked hard to reach HIS level.FFS that performance to win at Pais Vasco was incredible, beat Kwia and Balaverde on the line.Swift can retire happy.:)

There isn't. ;)

The main problem for the sprinters tomorrow could be positioning on the narrow, winding road around the Orme - from the bottom of the climb to the finish, only the final km is wide and straight. I'm sure there'll be a few sprinters who finish in the peloton tomorrow, but never get the chance to sprint because they're too far back.

Of course, it's entirely possible that this stage won't be decided in a sprint because the road is great for attackers...

Looks good, so as usual it must be the great mapmyride profile miscalculation then.

i think yr getting confused with the road that goes to the summit of the great orme which probably is 17% in places. the race director siad he was very tempted to finish the stage on the summit but thought it was a summit finish too early

Yes your right, I decided to map the climb myself and the main part is 1.3k @ 7.5%. If they follow Marine drive all the way around to Llandudno there is also a little 9% ramp for 350 metres just 2k from the finish.

should be a really good chaotic finish with attacks all over the place amid great scenery! rather reminiscent of the vuelta stage finish last year at Finisterre

maybe one for sam bennett?
