They've just come from Dolgellau to Barmouth on the less pretty side. On the opposite side of the river mouth, there's a traffic-free cycle route, which comes across the bridge you saw. It's brilliant. My 5-year-old loved the hill down into Barmouth.

Ned Bolting talking sh!te again. I bet there's a load of people who in the UK who wouldn't reconginse Wiggins, Cavendish, Thomas, Froome etc.

normally it's too steep for van Aert, I'd say. Only if guys like Alaphilippe and Woods end up looking at each other, there may be a chance

The steep part is not too long and followed by a false flat, so that could spoil the fun a bit (i.e. a biggish group could sprint for it, ultimately). Unless Alaphilippe repeats his Tour 2021 victory, but the form doesn't seem to be totally there (yet).
