Approximately worked out the profiles on mapmyride (the stage lengths are a bit out but they're generally correct profiles)

If stage seven was in Brighton again then it would be a great race overall. Final weekend really needs some hills or the TT back like JRanton said.

Are they finishing a stage in Colne with the Nick o'Pendle at the beginning of the stage or something then

Not impressed at all with the Wales route....that route is a trip my mate and I do to Anglesey from Liverpool and back...wasted opportunity once again. There's a lot of iconic climbs in that area..take them up Pen Barras...the Old Shoe road..The Shelf..I climb all of these regularly..I'm 55...Worlds End though...no..the surface is in an awful state..I think it's a mediocre race made worse by the parcours...there's lots of decent climbs to do...they just choose to ignore them.

I was in Wales on Wednesday...climbed out off Glyn Ceiriog on the chapel road...why can't the TOB head out that way and then over The Berwyns to the Old Shoe, over to The Shelf onto Pen Barras and down to Mold Past Loggerheads?

And,like biggut I'd like to see them attempt the "fred".

Yes once again they could have improved it, but as usual it comes down to who offers the £'s to have the Tour go through there. You can't simply just pick the best route and hope all will be fine. They have to try and make money to keep the race going.

I could do a route that still takes in all of the towns on the first stage and all of the climbs named above, except the one at Glyn Ceiriog.

Why hasn't the Bwlch Y Groes been used? The Milk Race managed it...it's one the hardest climbs in the UK...everyone would love to see the mayhem this climb would wreak on the peloton..we all love these types of climbs in the Vuelta...
