Only a Super Saiyan Fabian Cancellara 09-10 could top that I think. Basso was so incredibly dumb that year. Well, or Robobasso the next year if not for Puerto. That would probably have meant a clean sweep.

Pleased for Lasse Norman. He’s been a very attacking rider since he joined Aquablue. He didn’t get much return from his efforts last year but has a couple of wins this year.

I honestly think Sagan has a chance of winning all stages in a race like this. Perhaps not the TT now they have lengthened it but in the past he could have won six stages out of six. But why would he?

Since René Wenzel entered commentating at ES, I've regarded Wenzel as the finest Danish cycling commentor, surpassing Bay, Mortensen, Ritter, Sörensen (x2) and the likes, even Holm, when it comes to pure nerdy cycling knowledge and the ability to , especially rider knowledge of less known riders on the third lead. Speaking smaller races in the States and U23 races in Europe, he appears as 2nd to none with his always updated young rider database in his mind.
Of course it's a matter of taste - some people dislikes his kind of over-calm "laid back" style. Personally, I like his extreme understated humorous style a lot

This is the first comment I have ever seen showing nothing but contempt for him and I think he is the worst of the worst and would prefer even Leif Mortensen any day.

I mean, he doesn't understand tactics, he may recognise riders at times, he has an awful voice for commenting, he formulates himself extraordinarily badly and in my opinion lacks even the slightest bit of humor.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote with a bigger fish than me in the cycling milieu and he said that the recruitment of Wenzel was the single proof that every single member of the management needed firing as they clearly lacked rudimentary understanding of cycling knowledge and commentating technique since they thought Wenzel was a passable choice.

But Liniger still may be worse.

The problem with Liniger is that, as a consequence of commentating EVERY sport for DR, he doesn't really know what he's talking about most of the time. DR should hire a real expert instead of a generalist. Put Liniger on the radio instead, where he can commentate for P3.

About Wenzel, he's stacked with deep knowledge of American cycling, so he's a good addition for the american races, that ES broadcasts. But he's just not a very enthusiastic commentator, in general, so I can see why he does not go well with the tastes of many people.

Nope, I live in Aalborg so I got pretty lucky both to see the start and finish. The other stages are in the southern and eastern part of Denmark, so thats way to long to see a relatively minor race for me.

I was standing at Skovbakkevej yesterday as well, and besides being able to see the riders up close three times I mostly enjoyed looking out for Guardini and watching him almost pedal backwards up the small hill. That guy seriously can't climb!
Also nice to see some of the dropped riders let their hair hang loose (quite litterally, when Shane Archbold decided to sway his hair the last time up), and particularly last-placed Jeremy Lecroq, who decided to do a wheelie up the hill to thank for the great support still left for him.

Dislikes his commentry, even in his "expert" genre (handball).

Still a matter of taste, IMHO. Wenzels apparent loss of voice makes it fully up by his expert commentating. What weird thoughts? Only "weird thoughts" I can imagine is in his understated humour, when you know he is joking (just like Holm does). Having heard cycling commentary for nearly 35 years in both Danish, German and British. For me, Wenzel stands out of the rest, maybe together with Holm.
