I miss the times with more stages in this race, this including a prologue, a race day with two half-stages, less mess with route design in order to spice things artificial up, leading to crashes and things.
Attending the Bikuben Danmark Rundt as one in the crowd near 40 years ago I think it was 8 stages and alot more interesting situtions, ofc also due to the time before radio communication, but anyway.

Well...

With all due respect, I don't look at UCI ranking as a real elite tierlist. MVDP rides 40 days a year and is usually away from top3, although is imho the second best rider of the world. This year, though, the gap with Mads was closer than ever

I have a feeling that the camera motorbikes are sitting closer than average to the riders in the Tour of Denmark. You could see from the aerial view that the distance is around one second. So you'll sometimes have a breakaway with a motorbike right in front of them, and then a solo rider trying to come up to them, having to push many more watts to keep up. I don't know why it is like this, but I think it has to do with who is in charge. If it's experienced and self-confident race organizers they will regulate the way the motorbikes place themselves, if not then maybe the laissez-faire strategy prevails.

After Copenhagen Sprint, one of the riders was very critical to the way the motorbikes were placed. I could see that the distance was one second there, too. It makes a huge difference and often decides the fate of a breakaway.

Wærenskjold takes the win.

(Gibbons had a rather unfortunate way of celebrating his 31st birthday... Clemmensen also didn't look good after going down in the big crash earlier.)

Skjelmose lost time due to the crashes so Trek's multiple leader strategy didn't last long. Johansen was pretty unfortunate as well.

Crashes before last 3k or?

Cause I only saw the Gibbons crash (but he was alone).

Also doubt Pedersen needs help here tbh

I assume he went down in the crash 5 km from the finish. Pedersen should obviously be able to win this anyway, but now we won't know whether Skjelmose could actually have beat him.
