Difficult situation for Yates, needs to get rid of Gaudu on Green Mountain who can just follow but doesn't really have the horses to set a proper rhythm. Gianetti obviously thought it would just be a walkover so he sent a DEI team, they're handing out charity rides now apparently.

The young gun Majka is riding decently. He might get his GT debut this season if he keeps it up.

The only "luck" he has, is that there are multiple riders that might still be able to win. There's hope others will try to attack too, and that everyone leaves it up to FDJ to close that gap. Then he just has to time his all out attack.

The issue I see with this, is that every rider will think the same, they don't want to attack too early, reducing the odds for anyone to get away from Gaudu and not making it hard enough. There's also no other team with 2 riders that could go for it, so no numbers game to be played.

Basically UAE needs to go hard as long as possible (won't be long), and then Yates just needs to attack, set a high pace and hope he's able to drop Gaudu. He's already won it once, so why not take the risk.

In theory you would think that a strong majka + vine would be great support in green mountain. But uae do seem off their best this year (and I'm enjoying it). Vine a long way from that absurd 2022 Vuelta.

It all depends on how strong is Yates, if he's close to his best and goes once and hard I dont think the support matters. But today he didn't look his strongest.

Should be a great stage

From the overhead it looked like Yates came up with more speed but Gaudu responded when Yates came up beside him.

Gaudu had to dig very deep there.

Yates might have been on the limit, but maybe didnt went over it in the end.

We will see on the last stage who is the strongest I guess. Yates will need Vine and Majka to launch him.

May I suggest you drive or ride Interstate 10 from San Diego to @ Van Horn Texas @20+ times and reassess!! Lol
Oman also is strikingly parallel to places in North Africa..
Might be similar to the legs but looks like definitely way less trees in Oman than even the Mohave Desert.

Great win by Gaudu. He was obviously the strongest looking at how Yates sprinted up to him, tried to go around him but then Gaudu was able to respond and push away.

Davide is serious this season I've been saying it for months now, you can tell because of he's ditched that stupid unserious Gen-Z haircut that the 'unthreatening' live streamers who end up with dozens of weird abuse allegations have and gone for the more refined, the more cultured 'Tortured French Intellectual' look. I can see him heading to the barricades after his career is over to passionately call for dissolution of the Ancien regime.

Anyway it would've been a greater difference today but the fool Uijtdebroeks decided to close the gap and blow himself up for no reason when Yates was struggling. The Giro is just around the corner and the competition are already on the backfoot running scared. Javier Sola is at the shops as we speak hastily purchasing some paint cans and marker pens for Yates to sniff to increase his power.

Perhaps Guillaume Martin has taken him under his philosophical wings.
