5.8km at an average of 10.3% with some sections of 13.5% including the whole last two kilometres.

With it being that steep i'd have thought that Katusha/ Rabobank will set a hot tempo at the bottom and then let Rodriguez/Gesink do their stuff when it gets onto the steeper sections. Vino and Pinotti can both do well on this sort of incline - in the Giro Vino came 5th on the Zoncolan stage while Pinotti came 8th. If Rodriguez and Gesink want to win the overall then they will have to get a big gap by the top - time bonus (assuming its available) will help too. Be interesting to see how well vandevelde and Monfort go too. Difficult to tell how well people are going to go at this time of year.

Ya, from behind you really need to look for the blue stripe on the Sky jersey to set it apart but HTC and team-leopard-trek look very much alike from behind when the black shoulders aren't visible.

Interesting stage tomorrow. Normally you'd expect Cav to be the main sprinter for HTC but will they favour Goss instead as other guys getting time bonusses could put him out of the jersey? Maybe they'll try and get them both up there if they dont have to do much chasing. Cav should be the sprinter for the final stage.

I don't think they care much about the jersey. He'll lose it anyway.

He's doing the Giro, but do you really think he's planning on finishing it? Not likely, unless he somehow ends up in the mix for the points jersey, which is pretty much impossible for a sprinter with these parcours... He'll probably be at the start of all 3 GTs, but the only certainty would be him finishing the Tour, and probably the vuelta.

Yeah, he's going to lose it on the mountain stage but he/the team might want to retain it for a day rather than just let it go rather than just let it go. We'll see.

After his comments last year I'm guessing he would abandon the vuelta as well if he starts it to not get too tired for Worlds.

Um, my point was just that he usually does 2 GTs, so if he was riding the Giro he would leave the Vuelta to Goss. But apparently not.

lol, good to see my recording of the stage 1 highlights turned out to be the 3rd set of some WTA rubbish! It's ok I can catch it again in an hour, only 36 hours after the end of the stage :D

yeah me also :D stupid eurosport never sticks to schedule, makes recording things annoying (I almost always record the show after)

Vino or Purito for me... Vino has said clearly that He is going for everything this year cuz is his last year...

Also I'd like to see Gesink attacking and destroying the field to become his fan... I want to join the Dutch mafia cheering and supporting Gesink :cool:

I had forgotten that Vino said that. Ya, and he's agressive enough even at 37-ish yo. Could do it. JRod would be my pick tho... 5 or 6 years younger, 4th at last year's Vuelta. Even ahead of Gesink, who had good results in last year's ToSuisse and Tour even as young as he is. But hopefully Gesink can mix it up with the others and make it more interesting.

Great day... Led out the climb to get our guys up in the front split. Greg got 4th! Good result for us. I rolled in w/ grupetto.

From the FDJ report on their website:
Cette côte était vraiment difficile, assez longue (4 kilomètres) et avec des pourcentages sévères. L’Américain Taylor Phinney (BMC) l’a abordée en tête de peloton à un rythme incroyable et a mis tout le monde dans le rouge.

No, TGAK was setting a very high pace with Kroon to the bottom of the climb and then Phinney started driving on the front. Lets hope people actually acknowledge it instaead of just bacgging them whenever they get the chance to!

BMC have got a top 4 placing so lets now hope for a podium spot!
