Brownie and Cav... not sure if they are within the time limit.

Is there a time limit? I don't think prologues usually have one because they're so short. Certainly Danilo Napolitano was allowed to start stage 1 of Paris-Nice last year despite losing 4'13" over a 10 minute prologue.

12% i think but unlikely to be enforced.Would mean anyone over about +15seconds would be thrown out. :D

not sure you can say that - his crash in the TDU was not his fault in any way, and clearly shook him up, and then today, like Bak did, he clearly wasn't happy with the bike, and slid off some slippery cobbles. In the past he hardly ever crashed (in the last 3 years I remember 2/3 crashes total, far less than a lot of other riders for instance), so you wouldn't have said he was a bad bike handler, and you don't degrade in that over the years

As a trackie, and a madison rider especially, I'd expect him to have very good bike-handling skills. Maybe he's just lost concentration a few times. Certainly the one at the TdS last year I thought was him just not really thinking too much. Certainly he'd got used to being more than a bike length in front and nobody being able to catch him. So I think it's more a matter of carelessness or perhaps tensing up under pressure early in the season since the world's eyes are on him and he's the superstar now (we saw last year that he really does like to compete and really isn't happy when he's not on form) than a matter of his bike handling skills deteriorating.

One who once again impresses with an unbelievable ability to stay on the bike was Flecha (remember TDS last year?). He must be in great shape, he probably lost a few seconds on that accident and yet Cancellera only beat him by 1 second.

He caused a crash in the TDF, TDS and T-A last year too, which were, as far as I can remember, completely his own fault.

Do you mean this?
cav+back.jpg

A genuine collapsed wheel in T-A, as opposed the his wheel collapsing in the TdS, when Hennie ran over it.......

AFAIK prologues have a special rule. You don't have to finish the prologue to be allowed to continue the race.

"The finish deadline for each stage is the equivalent to 12% later than the winner’s time." according to the rules

which would mean 24 rides (from Chicchi onwards) would have to leave the race, but I think it's highly unlikely to happen

There are some races that run a crit or circuit race as a stage 0, which you don't have to finish, but it serves to offer up a leader's jersey; a Prologue ITT you have to finish however, because you have to set a time. With the crits everybody gets awarded the same time, with an ITT obviously everybody has a different time, so one must be set.

In the UCI rules TTs usually have 25% of the winners time. Also the Qatar rules mentions "each stage" and the prologue usually doesn't count as a stage so it probably has diffrent rules.

I literally just woke up. Nice result from Boom, although not totally unsurprising considering the course...lots of corners in 2km, that's almost like cyclocross, and Boom is known for his acceleration after corners.
But Veelers at 3, what the deuce?
Seems no British/Australian/USA superman could come close this time ;)

Nah, Nos is also geo restricted if I am correct

A few things on the website are. For instance you can still watch all the video from the Olympics or the World Cup, and those will be geo restricted. But these short news clips are usually for all to see. Plenty of times I've watched clips on the NOS site when I'm visiting my parents in Switzerland.
