el bala isn't riding, only costa with most of the giro squad

Amador Andrey
Castroviejo Jonathan
Cobo Juan José
Costa Rui
Intxausti Benat
Karpets Vladimir
Plaza Molina Ruben
Ventoso Francisco José

Ah, was going from the cyclingfever startlist. Well that will make Costa the undisputed leader, so that's good. Hopefully he can grab a podium or stage win.

it will be hard against the sky duo and guys like talansky, spilak, peraud, betancurt and so on who seem to be in great shape, but it is certainly possible.

one thing that runs in his favour is that since he crashed out on the first stage of PN his peak for the ardennes may be a bit late compared to guys who have been in great shape since early march.

Of whom only Gesink has a chance to be competitive. Podium is maybe possible, unless they screw up the effect of altitude training again.

The profiles make the early stages look a lot more interesting than they actually are. They are all in the range of a tough enough sprinter.

TT is way to short to balance that mountain stage:mad::mad:

This time you're right :p

Not so much the mountain stage but the prologue.

But the best climbers are also the best TT'ers anyway (of the GC riders).

this is the concern. Still action can't be worse than last year.

Stage (2) is probably the best with ~4km @ 6-7% and 2km @ 7% but the descent is standard and final 10km dead straight. If we're lucky something like the P-N stage Talansky won.

The last mountain stage does something quite unusual and potentially dangerous: descending down a road that will be climbed later.

or Gesink will dominate like in TdS 2010 only to be extremely average in the Giro later on :D
