This is the race that had it's hardest climb without a category some years ago.

I love the randomness of the categorisations.

The same three riders plus perhaps Pellizzari will battle it out again methinks, but this time aero Arensman will come out on the top step.
If Pidcock can rider himself into some form, he should be able to take a descent victory on stage 5.

Not the greatest route they've ever put together, but the final stage could be a cracker if the GC situation is right.

It's not I agree, but because the teams are small without much depth the 'biggest climb in the middle' has created a lot of success over the past couple of years.

It could be a fun race – attacks in the middle, smallish groups without domestiques, tactical finales over the easier terrain

The final descent on stage 5 is scary, at least on open roads with motorized traffic.
Two +180 degree corners inside 2 tunnels, you feel like a sitting duck that could be hit by a car coming from behind too fast.
I rather wreck my brakes on the +25 degree gradients of thd secondary roads than having to use the main one.

Yay, ToA is here: love the terrain they travel through. Preferred the old name Giro del Trenton, although I guess Alto Adige and Sudtirol weren’t happy about that.

Love this race and the way it tells sprinters we don’t care about you at all.

Hope we see a mythical level from Michael Storer again as one of the most fun pure climbers of the last 10 years.

Derek Gee needs to start to show some firm ahead of the Giro.

Best race situation would be Ineos behind in the GC before the last two stages but with both Arensmann and Bernal close enough to contend for victory allowing for long range tactical plays.

He is clearly out of shape so he will be here to get some miles before the big prize (LBL).

If you look at it that way it make sense, but I doubt he will be ready for LBL if he missed significant training days

About as legendary as a performance from such a small race can be.

Strangely enough, in the last 3 years we have 3 LBL podiums coming from TotA.
So perhaps his choice isn't sso strange as long as LBL preparation goes.
And if his shape doesn't allow him to contend Amstel and FW, TotA makes sense.
