Perhaps there is more apprehension after last year, where Storer and Arensman went too hard in this race, peaked too early and messed up their Giro, the 2012 Pozzovivo mistake.

Its an underwhelming route which combined with good weather has turned it into a training race.

Don‘t see why Ineos would attack here, I think Arensman and Bernal should have a much better Chance on the big mountain stage tomorrow. Weird stage, Peloton loses time on the climbs but catches up on descents

Sure, but it's weird that they didn't make any move all day long

So INEOS isn't even going to try?
Very dissapoinying so a big group so far, and they dont try to blow up everything? diffrences are to try to get bonus, but it is quite dissapinting..and for for people as Storer or O Connor

The route's not the best but this stage has had a lot of 10% ramps in the uncategorised climbs. Normally this race has like eight team leaders going for GC with no team, this year we have fewer going for GC and a couple of strong teams who can control the race.

I don't think there's much difference between this stage and last year's fourth stage in terms of difficulty of profile or chances to attack, and that totally blew the race apart. The difference is weather and strength of teams.

If a strong rider had wanted to attack, the final 30km presented a good opportunity to do it. A steep 3km climb into double digits, steep descent, short 1km kicker at 8%, steep descent, shallower 1km kicker at like 6.5%, descent, and only 5km of flat.

There was no real opportunity to make up time for the peloton. The fact nobody wanted to (I think) speaks for race dynamics.

I'd say Arensman over the top but he doesn't have much in terms of acceleration so the timing would have to be good
