Albasini sure proved his good catalunya climbing legs here. :p

like i said if there was anything serious in catalunya he'd never have won

Yup.

Can someone confirm who was in the second group that was eventually caught just before the finish? I saw Cunego, Scarponi, Henao, Martin, Mollema and I think Kiserlovski. Was there anyone else or was it just those six? Those six are placed 4-9 on the stage result so I'm guessing that was it considering Nordhaug was in the group behind and finished 10th.

Surprising ?

Except Alabsini's lucky win, only Gerrans is any good so far. They had a very nice victory yesterday and the brilliant TTT, but when it comes hilly and there's no Gerrans/Albasini - they are useless, not trying to be harsh btw.

They have a good sprint line up, but they didnt produce any good result in bunch sprint except yesterday in a weaky line up.

Altough with that said, they had an awesome start to the season and they will improve every month, well not in climbing terrain though :p Durbridge is one rider that stand out from GE so far too though.

I'm not in the least bit surprised. Was just going fishing for some green and gold that's all ;) (if any are still awake that is).

It's still the Queen Stage of a World Tour race and they can't place a single rider in the top 120, with all of their riders finishing in the laughing group. Pathetic.

Surprised Albasini didnt try to hang on and see how high up he could finish. Looks to me like GreenEdge knew they didnt have a chance today for the stage or for GC and didnt hold back with their celebrations last night.:D

All their guys in the last group? How do you defend that?

Of course. My post was intended to be directly under this one
"haha. where are the pathetic greenedge defenders now?"
as though today's stage had validated every negative thing said about GE up to this point. They had an awful stage, but they've still had a great start to the year, and to this race.

Pieter Weening has knee troubles and just started racing in France and Cam Mayer have other goals. GE already have won a lot. No point to fight for top20. Once Ardennes come im pretty sure Gerrans will be in front again.

Cameron Meyer put in a good performance at T-A and overall they've started this season strongly, they'll have bad days/stages and today they were found lacking.

This race could be more exciting if it had bonifications

Agreed. Right now the build up to the final climbs is not demanding enough, so the gaps on the road stay small. The time trial skews the result way too much.

Still, good to see Euskaltel winning the only certain victory of their year again :)

Why does it matter? They're not a team for the GC, Albasini's fluke notwithstanding.

Nordhaug says that Sky are going for Henao and Rogers for the GC, even if Rogers was almost a minute behind Nordhaug/Henao today. Nordhaug also says that his allergies are quite bad at the moment, and that he was only saved by the rain today. So he has no ambitions for the GC.
