Tony Martin is actually looking really good. This was a highly technical course and nutralized the power of true iTT guys.

I think he lost it in the descents. On the top of the last climb he had an 25 seconds advantage over Cunego, in the end it was down to 10. I did not see the exact time of Sanchez on the top of the climb but I don't think he was faster than Martin at this point of the race

I think Sanchez and Rodriguez had some good practice time on that course. They are both awsome descenders anyway. But they looked like they knew the course very well the way they were easy in the tight, downhill turns. Homefield advantage.

yes, that's right, Euskatel was in Onati to recon the course a month or so ago. Apart from the general home/training advantage

Pretty glad Rodriguez was able to turn in a good time and hang onto the podium :D

Not going to draw any conclusions yet about his chances in other stage races though.

Henao drops from 6th to 13th on GC, and you call that "pretty good"? Your standards must be pretty low for him (unless he performs well, then he's the biggest talent in the world again)

Just wondering does anyone know if it will be possible to buy the white points jersey of Pais Vasco, the one Sammy wore today?? :)

Super Samu, what a boss.

Purito, incredible tt. If he wasn't the top favourite for Amstel already, he sure is now. His confidence must be sky-high for the Ardennes.

it doesn';t matter how much he drops. all was close in gc anyway. he finished 26th or so in the itt. that isn't bad at all in this field considering he is no itt rider. of course explaining this to a hater is pointless I should've known

Henao was 32nd, on the same time as Kiserlovski, which I'd describe as somewhere between "OK" and "more or less OK."

Etxeondo manufacture the País Vasco jerseys. You can get them if they're in stock from a few places that stock them, Cento Cycling, Prendas and Outletbici being among them, or try writing to the manufacturers.

Turns out Martin crashed on the course today as he reconed it this morning. That explains why he was so ****ed and why he was going sooo sloely around the corners as if he wanted to point the finger at the organisers doing this.

In some of the corners he probably lost several seconds. Considering this and that it wasn't a course for him at all anyway his performance was very very strong. He only lost by 7 seconds.

Congrats to the guys on the podium. They deserve it. The strongest man won, that's how it should be.

I am happy with Tonys performance. A 5th place in Pais Vasco which didn't see a traditional TT is nothing to be ashame of. so isn't his third place today.
we knew he would be in trouble in the rain. But it's ok. Better place worse on the stage than to break a leg.

oh those evil organizers making an itt course that doesn't suit poor tony the pony ;)

he just took it easy because he didn't want to fall and hurt himself, not because he was on some kind of protest against the route.

Sure he didn't want to fall. But the only thing after the race he said was how ****ed this route was and that it was absolutly no fun racing it and way to dangerous.

Anyway, great performance still. ;)

So in conclusion, the world time trial champion has now rode 4 time trials this season, and had a good excuse why he didn't win each one.

apparently . . . he should just grow a pair instead of complaining how the itt's haven't been 100% suited to him aka 50k's of flat boredom
