Largest time gap?

In 1905, the gap between winner (Cornet) and last (Deflotriere) was 101:28:52 (more than four days).

Of course, wouldn't it have been even more had they not DQed Gaurin for hopping a train?

Or wait, was Cornet given the '04 win after the DQing that year?
hate to sound like i'm whingeing but i am pretty sure the biggest time difference was the 1904 tour. i've got it as 101 hours and 36 minutes as i'd originally posted but regardless, it seems that Trousselier was the 1905 winner with a time gap somewhat lower.

Yeah, sorry, tough to keep up with all the DQing. You're right.

Garin and a few others were DQed after the fact in '04, giving Cornet the win. Then those DQed weren't allowed to start in '05 either.

That's what's causing the confusion.
you're right though - some uncertainty about what was going on back then!!
