Transcripts of Phil Liggett's commentary

:D Hello, are there actual transcripts of some of the stages that Phil & Paul or Phil & whoever else, have covered?

I'm looking for commentary that have phrases like "the yellow jersey pulls away", "fans lining the side of the road", and his unique description of riders and their actions. Right now am listening to two 1995 / 1993 stages. Perhaps the most exciting times was in the 80's?

Anyway, if there's an easier way to find what I'm looking for in just one click, that would save alotta time! :D :D

Any suggestions?

@Microchip only from the dark recesses of a very disturbed man comes a vision of "scalded cats".

Really!?! Phil said that??! While digging up for his quotations, I learned that he's quite the animal lover. Maybe he's seen some unkind things in his day, who knows.

then watch 2/5 + 3/5

i know a lot of people slag phil liggett off for various reasons but you cannot say the man cannot commentate !!

I totally agree. I have a lot of admiration for someone who can speak for hours when nothing is happening, then pull you in both by the tone of voice and amazing use of simile when the race becomes animated.

Once, during a TTT, he said:

"Here they come under the 1 kilometre banner, mouth's like goldfish..."

I don't care what anyone says, but that's effing awesome.

That said, I wish he'd retire. He's way too closely associated with the Pharmstrong scandal. Listening to him now makes me feel icky.

Agreed.

He's never at a loss for words and it's really entertaining when he gets really into the stage and starts working himself up in the commentary. :)

Thank God the Armstrong years are over and the name won't find its way into his commentary. Whew!!!

Microchip..there are one or two threads here with Liggett and sherwen gems...I'm not very good at this search feature here......
There are some truly hilarious zingers that have come out of their mouths....:D

One of Phil's best lines was during the Tour Down Under this week when he talked about how when Koalas mate, they make really strange noises.:D

That's an apparently fairly common superstition/weather forecast, not some unique Liggetism.

Though I did laugh when I heard him say it. Last years Tour, right?

I was raised in the u.s. Midwest...and cows lying down indicated bad weather coming...prolly elsewhere in the world as well :)

But when wacky Phil says things they take on a life of their own
