As search said Sky are going down the Saxo route with useless announcements

Well, while they were expected, they still have to make it official, so wouldt call those announcement useless. Also the contract lengths were unknown.

I, for one, was pretty surprised that Tinkoff-Saxo chose to give Paulinho a 3 years contract for example. Seems a bit much in my opinion.

New rumours about Samu. He has four options: Astana, OPQS, Colombia and one year break to wait for Alonso's arrival.

Would be nice to see him in the light blue of Astana, but also cool to have him climbing with the colombians :)

Well, he's spent his whole career as more or less the only non-national on a national team, so Colombia would be a perfect fit for him.

Has Marco been axed!?

What a waste of talent.

With Rogers in trouble, Saxo makes more sense if Samu is willing to primarily be a domestique. I'd still rather see him give it a go as a leader mind you.

Leadership at day events, week events, freedom for a stage and domestique for Contador, could work.

signing an over the hill rider to lead races and stage hunt will please Kreuziger and Roche to no end.

No it'll be hard to convince them that it's a good idea, but Rogers had his share of leadership roles this season, so it's possible to give him something without hurting Roche and Kreuzigers personal ambitions.

Well Roche doesn't seem to be riding for anyone else so i don't see why it would matter to him. Kreuziger is a better rider than Roche, if he wanted more he should have already asserted himself.

Sanchez was good in 2012, just crashed out of the Tour and didn't ride the vuelta otherwise it was as good as almost any other year, 2013...the start of the slide or a hiccup, I guess we'll see.

He was 16th in the first MTF in the Tour before his crash. But ok, he may have been slightly hindered in his preparation by his Dauphine crash.

The only WT race of importance that Rogers got to lead was the Dauphine. And only because Contador suddenly forgot how to TT.

Doubt that many quality riders would be pleased with leadership roles in Beijing, Criterium International and California.

The rider who might be able to replace Rogers (as a leader) is Lulu imo. Strong TT skills that can help win a couple of hilly stages races etc.

However the thing that can't be replaced is Rogers' race understanding. Hes sort of one of the last standing road captains who can actually make calls during a race. Neither Sanchez or Lulu strikes me as having any road captain skills.

Nicki Sørensen, Karsten Kroon and Matteo Tosatto are all guys on that Tinkoff team who could make good road captains imo.

Agree in some races/stages or situations they can work well. However Rogers can go very deep in the race action on complex stages.
