Ouch, Ben King is rather uninspiring signing for me. I hoped Gaimon was going to be the last of those for this year, but then... I wonder who is leaving to make the space for them. Hope both will be able to surprise me in positive way, but I don't expect much. I would rather take somebody like Gavin Mannion instead of them. He should be also very cheap also and I see more potential in him and more evidence he is good enough to be a valuable domestique at least for those American races.

I hope Garmin will be able to use their climbing team better next year. This year they had great spring and pretty much nothing since Giro, apart from those August-September races in North America. Martin, Hesjdal, Talansky, Danielson, Howes, Cardoso, Slagter, Morton and Dennis, that's plenty of power. No wonder they're going to get rid of some of their sprinting/cobbles guys to keep this going.

It's fair to say American riders have got it pretty good with so many teams sponsored by US companies.

They're still looking for a title sponsor. Sojasun wants to carry on but not as the main financers. They've given themselves until the 1st October registration deadline.

Back on topic, L'Equipe rumours that Jimmy Engoulvent is off to Europcar.

That may be Christina Watches the team is looking to merge and move up to Pro Conti.

You could also argue that their climbing department was already pretty strong (although that's not evidenced in the current Vuelta). Their sprinting/cobbles department kinda sucks right now.

Maybe Nuyens returns from the dead to win Flanders, or Van Baarle is the best neo pro ever, but otherwise... looking pretty grim there.

I hope not. Stéphane Heulot has done a fantastic job trying to develop the riders on the Sojasun team in an ethical, proper way. That would seem to be at odds with having to employ Stefan Schumacher. Anyway, he is talking about seeking a title sponsor, nothing about a merger. The only merger I could see working would be with Bretagne-Seche but that is not going to happen.

Confirmed: Brajkovic, Kangert re-up with Astana

Nibali must be pretty happy with the amount of climbing doms they have available:

Fuglsang, Kangert, Brajkovic, Westra, Kessiakoff, Pellizotti, Agnoli, Aru, Tiralongo.

I presume at least a couple of these will ride the Giro. Interesting to see who (Aru pretty likely to I would have thought).

I dunno about that. With Van Summeren and Nuyens they have the two recent cobbled monument winners not named Tom or Fabian. Short of signing one of those two, or perhaps getting Vanmarcke back, that's as strong as anyone at least on paper.

Yates brothers to Orica-GreenEdge?

Ironically, the future of the most promising double act ever in British cycling looks to be in Australia. Well-placed sources maintain that the Yates brothers have signed for Orica-Greenedge, the Australian equivalent of Team Sky. Adam will not be drawn on it: "Hopefully we will turn pro next year but nothing is official, nothing is decided."

If they live up to the promise they have jointly shown this year and do so at Australia's flagship team, Sir Dave Brailsford and his fellow managers at Team Sky could end up kicking themselves. Twice over.

I look forward to someone trying to explain to John that everyone rides for Valverde or Quintana.

No way. They portmanteau it into Team Gadretstar, and he understands that as the team at which Gadret is the star, and all is clarified.

It would be a good move- Adam to eventually help Porte.

They could win races as they seem talented but surely Gerrans/ Matthews would stop Simon and Weening :) Adam.

I would also prefer for more Aussie talent to be ushered in- Flakemore, Phelan, Ewan, Haig... as options over the Brits.

Is that like the Dennis had signed for Sky rumour?

I don't know. One possible issue for Sky is a lack of space to accommodate both of them. I think they were only really interested in Simon before L'Avenir but that's a guess.

Vaughters in love with Andre Cardoso :D

"Keeping my eye on Andre Cardoso in the Vuelta. Seems like an under appreciated climbing talent that could use a good home...."

"Very excited to see @ACardoso84 get 5th on the stage in the Vuelta today."
