rumor said that both Johnny Hoogerland and Oscar Gatto are negotiating with Cannondale, but no news after that

Looks like they are still lack of money so have to wait the price drop:confused:, like INRNG said

Looks like the bubble busted. Could actually be healthy mid to long team, if the stakeholders are willing to make serious decision.

It was his 1st WT year though- he seemed ok by the WC.
How well did Henao go after his Giro???

henao was completely wasted by sky, liek all their riders starting july were empty except those injured like kiriyenka or those that didn't apply trainingcamps like froome, although he was dead at the end of the tour.

Grandpa will end as a pensioner for 2014.
He's a ticking time bomb and I don't see any reputable team signing him let alone his age.

Does it matter ? He's still would be Katusha best hope if Purito will be doing Giro Vuelta as he should.

Horner has already stated his aim to win the Vuelta again in 2014. I don't see him signing anywhere as a Tour leader, for various reasons.

That would only happen at a team like Argos or GreenEdge and they don't have teams to support a GC rider. The reality is, Horner by winning a good race at the age he is, with the money he wants, has made it harder for himself to find a team. It was only the fact that he was riding for a team who did not have any GT riders performing which allowed him to ride the Vuelta as team leader which he deserved to do. He will have to take a pay cut to find a team and I think that's unavoidable. He is the sort of guy who will probably stay in the sport when he retires so I would not be surprised to see him working as a DS in the future. I can't blame Horner to expect a payoff after winning the Vuelta but it has probably happened too late for him to milk the benefits of such a win. Unfortunate.

good. now let's just hope for a difficult volta route.

I hope for a really hard Volta route with Senhora da Graça and Torre both early in the race and then a really awful, tame ending with maybe an intermediate stage (Monte Assunção/Santa Luzia/Gouveia or something?) and a terrible, terrible flat parade to finish.

I would dislike such a route, I would hate it so much. But it would likely eliminate Rui freaking Sousa from contention, and a crappy last couple of days is probably the only way Hernâni Brôco will ever win A Volta, sadly, as his recovery just seems too weak for 11 days and he always tanks in the last GC stage.

To be fair, if they were going to go with such an idea, and if they really wanted to do the Lisboa sprint finish that thankfully it looks like they're moving away from, I think it would have to be either Montejunto or - this would be so cool - Palácio Nacional de Pena on the penultimate day. Really though, the final weekend should be Torre & TT.

Maybe if it was a 2.HC race but as it is, I don't see him wasting 10 racing days in such a low level race. Only if he gets injuries, needs racing days and he can't do another races for some reason.

Or crashes out of the Tour or has to DNF for another reason.

I don't think he would finish the Volta. Maybe race a few days waving his hands to the crowd showing the same commitment to victory Wiggins did in the Tour of Britain in 2009-10, retire from the race on the rest day, then do the Vuelta to prepare for the Worlds.

Let's face it, anybody who thinks they'll be competitive at the Worlds is going to want to do the Vuelta with a Ponferrada recon stage in it, and as it's a pretty hilly Worlds and he's the defending champion it would be absolutely stupid for Rui not to be at the startline in Jerez.

His current season program seems to be working for him, so I think it's more likely that he won't do the Vuelta next year.

Agree. Besides, he only now proved he can be competitive during 3 weeks, so 2GT's in one year might just be too much for him. Even if he didn't go for the win, he could easily cook himself with the Vuelta.

I think he will stick to the classics.

I wouldn't have thought he'd race the Vuelta either for GC or until the end. Maybe race it a bit like Cunego did in '09 - try to nab a stage or a day or two in red, drop time where need be, do the Worlds recon, drop out around stage 12. That wouldn't seem too illogical.

Normally I'd say that he shouldn't be changing a winning formula. But the Vuelta is going to have a stage including the World Championships circuit less than a month before the World Championships. And the World Championships course looks like it will suit him, and he is the defending champion. He may be tempted.
