looks like Jacob Rathe and Nathan Haas are getting the boot from Garmin
Sad for Haas
Hopefully Drapac can slot him in/ he can get another shot in the WT, he would have potential for the Ardennes.

I imagine they could end up even with more guys like these if they wanted to have a full roster. Let's say they would have Rathe+Haas+Maaskant instead of Slagter or Langeveld.theyoungest said:They still have guys like Ben King and Kreder, so I doubt that's the reason.
I see what you mean, but why then do they prefer Raymond Kreder over Jacob Rathe? They're both fairly unspectacular, but at least Rathe is American.Anderis said:I imagine they could end up even with more guys like these if they wanted to have a full roster. Caja Rural is interested in Horner and LL Sanchez, but don't have the money. But if they are willing to reduce their demands, it can still happen. Says Juanma Hernandez.
Samson777 said:Yeah, would be a story in itself. Perhaps he experience some of the same problems as LL Sanchez: http://www.feltet.dk/nyheder/mulig_forklaring_derfor_faar_luis_leon_sanchez_ikke_kontrakt/
MPCC makes it difficult, cause of clinic stuff.
Or perhaps it's just down to he fact that Horner ask crazy money, still.
Kreder had plenty of top10 finishes in the past two years. Even if he didn't do anything extraordinary, his results are quite a bit better than Rathe's.theyoungest said:I see what you mean, but why then do they prefer Raymond Kreder over Jacob Rathe? I am a bit surprised about this, thought he would maybe go to Team Stuttgart or a German amateur team, but this seems like a good opportunity if he can fit in. This was his first season at Continental level. Had no results for most of the season, but then two wins in the Tour of China I & II and 2nd overall in ToC II. If he can repeat those successes with Synergy Baku, he should ramp up the UCI Points fast and become interesting for ProConti or WT! He is the brother of Dominic Klemme.
Synergy Baku signs:
Daniel Klemme
Michael Schweizer (GER/NSP-Ghost)
Markus Eibegger (AUT/Gourmetfein-Simplon)
Jan Sokol (AUT/Gourmetfein-Simplon)
William Walker (AUS/Drapac)
General Manager: David McQuaid (any relation?)
DS: Jeremy Hunt (former Sky)
The team hopes to be able to start more races in Europe next season.

Dazed and Confused said:It will be tough to ramp up the wins without Modolo, but hopefully a couple of the youngsters will get a win or two.
This is the Italy's answer to Caja Rural methinks. Hopefully another invite to the Giro is on the cards.
Libertine Seguros said:No way they don't invite the team of Pirazzi. That's like the Vuelta not inviting the team of Txurruka. He guarantees action. He attacks in the neutral zone. Hell, he attacks on his way to the breakfast table in the hotel.
JRanton said:Plus Battaglin (stage winner in 2013) and Bongiorno (big talent).
There's a lot of talk that MTN Qhubeka has pretty much already secured a wildcard so with Androni's participation guaranteed that leaves one spot open. Likely to come down to a battle between Yellow Fluo and Colombia. If Quintana does ride the Giro then you'd imagine it becomes much less attractive for the Giro organisers to invite Colombia.
Dazed and Confused said:Really? The team appears to be pretty dull. What can they offer the Giro?
pastronef said:same as Europcar
Ciolek won San Remo, so he must now a a huge fan scare in ItalyDazed and Confused said:well, RCS can make the decision wrt to MTN. That may not be possible in the case of Europcar.
So again why would anyone invite MTN to the Giro? African exposure? Whats the plan?
roundabout said:Pardilla can potentially do a top-10 (top-15 more likely). Ciolek can top-5 sprints. Gerdemann will fail as usual.
pastronef said:it's strange, haven't heard anything from both Haas and Rathe about leaving garmin or a new team for 2014.
Wes Sulzberger signs for Drapac for 2014
Dazed and Confused said:perhaps its a question of weakness in the alternatives. Can't say I'm impressed with Team Colombia's efforts so far.
Colombia made an ok showing at this years Giro, didn't set the race alight but they sure did more than a few other teams. I'd have no problem with them being invited again. IAM might be a better choice though.Ferminal said:There aren't many strong Pro Conti teams. They are going to have to give one to MTN/NetApp/IAM/Colombia/Caja Rural. It's likely that NetApp and IAM will do the Tour so no go there. Colombia have not shown anything other than an ability to be a joke of a team. So yeh, hope for Caja Rural (who probably don't even want to do it) but MTN is understandable.
