Welcome @ndyfenn, @LeopoldKonig, @nicholasroche, @LPNordhaug & @WoutPoels to Team Sky in 2015! http://po.st/2015Signings pic.twitter.com/CgeH3NHH7c

Good signings. Andy Fenn didn't make much progress at OPQS which must be a bit concerning considering how well the vast majority of that team have performed.

So Team Sky is now 1 over the maximum squad of 30.

Dombrowski is expected to join Garmin to bring them to 30.

Do we expect any other departures or arrivals?

There were rumours of Viviani but I guess that fell through with Fenn signing.

Roche / Konig will be good additions amongst the Sky ranks, added to Porte, Nieve, Henao x2, Deignan and Kennaugh they have some good climbing talent. Just watching them this past year or so I think the likes of Lopez / Zandio / Knees while they are strong they don't blow a race apart in an attacking fashion. Looking forward to seeing what opportunities Roche gets, perhaps leader in the Vuelta with Nieve, Kennaugh and Deignan with him.

I think just Dombro leaving, I don't expect anyone else to sign.

In terms of a classics squad, Sky have very limited options with those signings.

Cobbles:

Eisel
Fenn
Knees
Puccio
Rowe
Stannard
Sutton
Thomas
Wiggins (just for Roubaix)

Sky looking pretty top-heavy with super-domestiques, trying to recreate the 2012 Sky Train glory days I guess. Will be interesting to see how they dole out leadership for the non-Froome races to keep them all happy. Will depend a lot on which Richie Porte we get in 2015 - the machine from 2013 or the one from 2014 who could barely finish a race.

I think if Roche changed his focus he could be a good classics rider - big engine, explosive, can drive things on the flat, good bike handler (although tactically not very good considering how long he's been around). Not gonna happen any time soon though.

Big engine, really? He's going to be toasted after 230km.

Sky GT squads are just crazy.

Giro:

Konig, Cataldo, Deignan, Poels, Lopez, Sivtsov, Knees, Pate, Zandio

Tour:

Froome, Porte, Nieve, Roche, Kennaugh, Kiryienka, Thomas, Eisel, Stannard

Vuelta:

Froome to lead as Contador won't be there surely after Giro & Tour then Nibali will be doing Tour as well so they will be on level playing field. No one else is a threat to him. Support riders will be a mix of who has the best form as Sky drop away fast at the end of the season. Sergio Henao will be super dom in the hope he can lead at the next Giro.

I think Konig has been bought to lead at Giro as they won't focus on Richie until he has proven he is back to form and over his illness.

Froome will ride his usual schedule:

Tour of Oman
Criterium International
Tirreno-Adriatico
Volta a Catalunya
Tour of the Basque Country
Tour de Romandie
Criterium du Dauphine
Tour de France

So only leaves opportunities at:

Tour Down Under (Richie's race)
Paris-Nice
Giro del Trentino
Giro d'Italia
Tour of California
Tour de Suisse

I agree with you...He doesn't last well at present as he doesn't train for them but he could as he is very strong ....and the classics are where SKY have opportunities

Roche will lead in the Vuleta imo....Froome will not ride it if he wins the Tour

Great coup from SKY team this transfer window

Can't disagree. I just hope Konig doesn't turn into fodder. He has some star potential! Disappointed to see him go there.

Here's some slightly modified GT squad's I posted earlier:

Giro: Konig, Siutsou, Cataldo, Nordhaug, Seb Henao, Kiryienka, Puccio, Eisel, Deignan

Tour: Froome, Roche, Konig, Poels, Nieve, Porte, Ser Henao, Kennaugh, Thomas

Vuelta: Roche, Nieve, Kiryienka, Earle, Poels, Stannard, Ser Henao, Rowe, Swift

As for the cobbles: Fenn, Eisel, Stannard, Wiggins, Rowe, Swift, Thomas, Puccio, Knees

The GT riders will contest the Ardennes and the new MSR. Konig and Roche will likely lead in races like Paris Nice, Catalunya, California and the TDS.

Their climbing/GC support talent is very deep now. Probably the only team that rivals Movistar in that respect.

These squads are so unrealistic. Tour squad is just there 9 best climbers. Where are the workhorses/engines?

I'm pretty sure the Tour squad will look very similar to this:

Froome, Porte, Nieve, Roche, Kennaugh, Kiryienka, Thomas, Eisel, Stannard

I think he will get leadership at Giro which would be great for him, then help Froome at the Tour.

Roche just said on Sky sports news that he is looking forward to helping Froome in the Tour and then have his own chances later so maybe Tour/Vuelta for him.

Konig is still quite young...maybe 2 yrs at SKY and then leave to lead at the Tour

He needs to ride for a strong World team to get the expeience to lead at the Tour in the future if he progresses

Imagine hsi first year will be developmental
