Same here, I thought the rumor was they would quit. Could this be the new Alonso team?

A while back the going rumor was that Alonso's team would indeed come out of the SkyDiveDubai structure/sponsorship. But as with all things FACT, I'll have to actually see it to believe it. Curiouser and curiouser.

I disagree. I like to see an exciting race. One guy crushing everyone is not exciting.

I don't think he plans to dodge them at all, if the Giro course is indeed relatively weak, but rather try to win both races without being in absolute top form in the Giro. Similar to Indurain. I could be way off, but I think he's that confident in his ability.
