BMC to stop at end of 2017 says @lequipe, saying owner Andy Rihs keen to supply a team with his bikes but not to bankroll a team any more

They have been looking for another sponsor for a couple of years now apparently without any luck, maybe this is Rihs forcing the issue but I won't shed any tears seeing the management of this team out of the sport

So there's Trek, Astana, Lampre...

or Maybe Tinkoff who says if Sagan wins 3 stages he stays in cycling....

at least at Astana he will be well surrounded in the mountains.... that Astana blue went him very well...

sagan has a contract for next year, so it wouldn't be a surprise. majka also has a contract and continues to be a good bet for the GTs.

sagan didn't win anything big last year besides the WC. this year things are different. he's in the form of his life.

Apparently Chris Hamilton has signed for World Tour team Giant Alpecin. The 3 year deal should see the current Australian U23 champ race in Europe from 2017 onwards with his first world tour race more than likely the TDU in January.

They also signed Kämna? Nice pick, although he's having a pretty disappointing season so far.

Any source for Kämna joining?

Pure speculation from my side for 2017:
Katusha-Alpecin riding on Canyon
Giant-Würth riding on Giant

L'Equipe reports Nibali is shopping for a new team as the Bahrain team project is stalling, may look to start in 2018 instead

Here's hoping the project does stall then completely disappears

He could sign with the Alonso team meanwhile.

The Alonso team's just like nuclear fusion: we've been hearing for ages that it's just round the corner.

so the Uci was right

18 teams for 2016
minus 2 (IAM, Tinkoff)
plus 1 (Bora)

that makes 17 for 2017.

then one team will lose its WT license because in 2018 there will be 16 WT teams

Although French publication l’Equipe has reported that BMC will quit its backing of a WorldTour team at the end of 2017, team owner Andy Rihs has told CyclingTips that the squad is a long term project.

Team SunWeb-Giant seems to already have registered a site and twitteraccount.
That's indeed a major Dutch sponsorship of an enterprise based in Switzerland officially.

I suggest they're becoming a big team registered in the Netherlands (again) in that case!?

Although their farm team was rumored to be German, right?
