I wonder what AG2R will do now that they've lost their second GC rider.

Latour is a promising prospect but still developing, and Geniez/Frank/Vuillermoz are not good enough to contend. Is there another GC leader on the market, preferably willing to race Giro?

Ciccone would have made ore sense if Pozzovivo would say for anoher year, he could become his heir and learn a few things from him, but it wouldn't be the worst option for Ciccone.

Wait guys, there's a gc guy on Movistar who might very well finish inside the top 10 of the Vuelta and he's out of contract. But I'm not sure if Lavenu has got his phone number! :D

He's a former winner of the white jersey at the Tour of Italy as well!

Would Pozzovivo go to Bahrein to help Nibali in the Tour or to be the leader in the Giro ? I would think the former, with Izagire leader on the Giro.

About AG2R, I think they could try Latour as leader. Or Frank.

Lead at the Giro, than maybe he'll go to the Tour to help Nibali.
Izagirre i think could have his chance at the Vuelta but they could take on board also him in France if they won't sign another good helper for the mountains.

Latour is very irregular at the moment, i don't think he has what it take to lead a GT right now. And Frank says at the start of the season that he didn't come to AG2R to lead a GT, but to fully help Bardet in the TDF.

If they didn't find someone else, i think the role will return to Geniez. He already has a top 10 in the Giro, and was at the start of the race this year (but was sick). He is not he best prospect but he can do the job.

I guess AG2R simply shifts to Frank as a second leader at the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie. While Geniez goes to the Giro with the aim of a random top 10, a stage win or the mountains jersey like he's done at Vuelta before as Bardet regularly does the Tour & Vuelta double from here on.

Geniez doesn't need much team support for this one man show while they can fully focus on Bardet and still give Frank few decent lieutenants in Switzerland.

Edith adds that you can as well give Pikachu a free role for stage hunting at the Giro again together with Geniez before he supports Bardet at the Tour. That way you can keep him happy. At the Vuelta someone like Kadri or Riblon on 13/14 level should be enough support instead of Vuillermoz!

At least that's what I would be doing if I was Lavenu!

Pikachu is a essential piece of AG2R team in the Tour de France, and Bardet's principal support in the mountain given the little deception that was Matthias Frank this year. Considering that he never did two GT back to back and the fail of most people (except Mollema) who tried to do well on both Giro and TDF this year, i don't think AG2R will take the risk.
