For years it felt like there were only about ten professional British riders, but all ten were high quality riders. I wondered if I'd rather be British and have only three riders to support at GTs, but they were all likely to win a stage or the race overall, or be Italian/French/Spanish and have 40 riders to support, but few were likely to have any success. Now the generation that must have been inspired by Sir Bradley is coming through and the Brits are no longer limited to a few riders.

Cross has always been popular in the UK. Their winters are basically prototype cyclocross weather. They've never got the Olympic money the way track suddenly did ahead of the 2012 Olympics etc, but they've always just kept it going steady.
