Chicken to Rock

Just wondering about the rumored Mexico Rock Racing Team - could we see a certain future Mexican rider joining them as well...

el pollo loco...

Especially since the new UCI rules state a certain number of riders must come from the registered country

Michael Rasmussen has reportedly signed with a European based team, but he’s not giving out any names yet until the ink is dry on the contract.

Alberto Fernandez de la Puebla(Footon-Servetto) hired by Carmiooro-NGC.

Benat Intxausti (Footon-Servetto) confirmed in Euskatel-Euskadi.

Also, Acqua Sapone hired Vladimir Miholjevic (Liquigas) and renewed with Giuseppe Palumbo.

You quoted "Please give a cite. Just a few lines and then the link, please", yet there is no link or news report.

Anyway, this is quite exciting if true.

Footon Servetto sign: Swiss rider David Vitoria (Rock Racing), Italians Michele Merlo and Macro Corti (Barloworld), Spanish riders 26-year-old David Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, winner of a stage of the Circuito Montañes and 22-year-old David Gutiérrez Palacios (Camargo elite-2), a Spanish U23 road race champion and the younger brother of José Iván Gutiérrez Palacios. Also signed are Rafael Valls (Burgos Monumental), and Colombian Miguel Ángel Rubiano (Centri della Calzatura-Partizan).

CN have picked it up now.

Please be true... would love to see him destroying mountains again, unfortunately the Giro course would suit him immensely, I'd prefer it if he didn't actually win something.

Xacobeo release David Herrero, Iban Mayoz, Ivan Rana, Eduard Vorganov, who has joined the Katusha team and Spaniards Juan Francisco Mouron Doldan, Alejandro Paleo, Héctor Espasandin Rama and Pedro Fernandez. They are going in with 16 riders, although they could sign more if they can get a new sponsor. I honestly don't know how they can ride the Giro and the Vuelta next year.

Ezequiel Mosquera, David Garcia and Gustavo Cesar Veloso are the only contracted riders for 2010, although the team is trying to re-sign: Serafin Martinez, Gonzalo Rabuñal, Gustavo Dominguez, Delio Fernandez, Marcos Garcia, Carlos Castaño, Vladimir Isaychev and Alberto Fernandez.

In other news, John Murphy leaves OUCH to ride for BMC for two seasons. Murphy has some pedigree, he is after all the US criterium champion. And he is also a former MTB'er, so his bike handling skills will come into handy when racing in Europe.

Well, it'd either be him winning something or some other guy on the gear, so I'm not too fussed. It'd probably be nice to see him win something, just for the drama of it.

If he did, it'd be two fingers up to the UCI and their double standards :D

I'm thinking he'd be joining an ProConti team from Italy or Spain. Anyone else have any ideas?

I beat Cyclingnews to the story by about 12 hours but here is there link: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/rasmussen-expecting-grand-tour-return-in-2010

I'm not revealing my source. I'm sure CyclingNews use this forum as a way of researching stories. Reason why they ask for links all the time.

Susan careful how you use the term "cite". You have a web"site" but you can also "cite" a reference - as a website.

Thank you, I know the difference between "site" and "cite". I was asking you to "cite" your source.

And the reason we ask for links is not so that we can use them for stories, but so that we don't have copyright issues with other websites. You should not quote entire articles as that could violate their copyrights.

Also, it makes it easier for other readers to look up stories.

To be fair, Biciciclismo and Feltet both beat you on it by a few days, so you're not allowed to brag here :D

Isn't Wiggins meant to be a SKY rider by now and Contador riding for Garmin for 2010?

In my computer game they are. oh wait... :p

Jokes aside, since we mention Contador, he said today that it's looking less and less likely he'll stay with Astana

Don't believe them in the slightest :)

I thought he was still under contract for 2011. Or at least he has that option. Anyway, Euskaltel-Euskadi:

Javier Aramendia
Jorge Azanza
Sergio de Lis
Koldo Fernández de Larrea
Aitor Galdos
Aitor Hernández
Iñaki Isasi
Egoi Martínez
Mikel Nieve
Juanjo Oroz
Alan Pérez
Rubén Pérez
Amets Txurruka
Pablo Urtasun
Ivan Velasco
Gorka Verdugo

New signings:

Romain Sicard (Orbea)
Jonathan Castroviejo (Orbea)
Miguel Minguez (Orbea)
Daniel Sesma (Orbea)
Beñat Intxausti (Fotoon-Servetto)
Gorka Izagirre (Contempolis-AMPO)

Looking at seeing how Sicard will go. I think he will be riding the Tour next year.

According to Cavendish today, there's no truth to the story, he has a contract till 2011 and the team has the option of extending till 2012 whether he personally wants to or not.

Same. And Castroviejo too.

Nope, team has made it quite clear he won't. Which is good, since it tends to ruin riders. Blood him in carefully and slowly.

Davide Viganò joins SKY

The sprinter who isn't fast because he sprints with his behind permanently on the saddle. Weird signing.

Mike Friedman leaves Garmin-Slipstream and joins Jelly Belly p/b Kenda. The person who came up with the 'p/b' bit should suffer a slow and painful death IMO. It is truely dire.

Ok then, USPS did it, so I think we can blame it on Armstrong and The Hog.
