Der Tony - who is really good - turned down an offer from the Shack/Mr Armstrong.

I've stopped paying attention to most of the post on this forum. It's mostly trolls that just want to start crap and I really had enough of that crap. Unless someone makes a statement directly to me I really don't bother reading the statements.

What a trollish post...

Welcome aboard, but can we please make it a rule where that if you post an article outside of English, there should be a translation involved.

Just because you don't speak Spanish shouldn't mean everyone else is deprived of the link.

.

im sure we can all work out bablefish or googletranslate, if you are going to start expecting people posting non-english language links with translations, then i think its reasonable to request that all english language links are translated into french, italian, spanish etc..

english speakers really are lazy ******s, we do not rule the world..

So Caisse is making all of these signings while also lowering their roster size down to 25.

It sounds more and more like Alonso's team will be up and ready by next year and they will be taking some of the Caisse boys with them.

So they replaced 2 Frenchies with one big name Moreau to satisfy the French sponsor. Bruseghin for the Giro and a Tour domestique, Moreau for the 1-week (french) races, and they are paving the way with some strong signings to beef up the overall team strenght for Contador.

Siutsou is like a Kiryienka, strong, powerful and good for stage wins. Soler potentially?

If they get a new sponsor who'll chip in a buck or two to pay Mr Contador...

I still think losing Rodriguez is perhaps a little painful, but since he (and Oscar Pereiro) are going, it'll increase their liquidity... I mean, Oscar wasn't cheap, and given the fact that Rodriguez goes to Katiusha, we could well infer that he was a high paid employee as well...

It is starting to look like another galacticos team...

I wonder how Amador and Uran will (continue) to develop the next season...

I'm told to watch this space on that front. Alonso has got the cash ready to roll. Contractual issues to take care of first thou. I've also heard Alonso taking a year out of F1 and working on this team along with driving in NASCAR or something like that. Also expect a link to a Spanish football team.

Alonzo in NASCAR: "The car, it is broken. I turn the wheel, but it keeps going straight."

Did you read the posts above you before posting? It was the only offer he had :)

That he's "one of Contador's boys" is just something the media made up. He himself said the only guy he's very close with on the team is Klöden. Contador's boys are Navarro, Noval and Hernández, who are all negotiating with Caisse along with Contador.

Again, it's in the posts immediately above yours :)

If that's true, It's highly unlikely that Contador would insist that his new team sign Paulinho as well. This is even more unlikely with Caisse given their streamlined roster for next year.

Still no further whispers of Contador's likely destination... Or Evans.. Thought rumours would be abound given his tour of discontent.

Shack seems to be "not appealing" at all to the Top Names -even great backup money cannot get to buy off contracts from the likes of Schleck brothers, Tony Martin, etc.- Was it too much damage done to the LA/JB image the "Contador experience"?

The Contador situation didn't help, and the fact that Armstrong is making no secret of the fact that this is his team - good to see that Tony Martin felt his career was worth more than being a water carrier. Attempting to sign top flight talent has nothing to do with their development as riders and everything to do with nullifying as much of the competition as possible.

That's the big problem for Team Hogstrong.
Nobody with aspirations, (i.e. young talent) should, in theory, touch them with a barge pole.
Definitely, a country for old men, who yearn for the bad 'ol days and don't mind a permanent doping cloud of suspicion, hanging over their shack.

Because I had nothing to do, I was watching the final stage in the TdF and when Matt Keenan was commentating (and he is a million times better then Paul Sherwin and Phil Liggett, and he understands pro cycling) said there had been speculation in France that Armstrong would try to snap up a few French riders, and young riders (like Brice Feillu) so he could get a lot more favourable coverage in the press.

Hey, wait - LPR aren't continuing next year?

I thought their contract/sponsorship was up in 2010 but the team's manager wanted to continue in a slimmed down version, with lesser known riders/no famous big shots.

It may also be that these riders contract buyouts are too expensive, Martin, Schlecks, all have contracts until 2010 or 2011. I think many people think its easy to get these riders. You are basically paying dollars the cost because of buying one contract out, and paying for the new contract to get a rider.

Example being Contador, he is wanting 2 million a year, which is large salary to pay him. Then, since he does have one more year on his contract with the Kazakhs, I am sure they are going to want at least the same amount for him since he is worth a ton potentially to them as far as sponsorship and experience for the younger riders to learn from. So a team thats wants Contador service will be looking to probably to spend 4 million dollars on 1 rider for 1 year. That is more then a couple of ProTour team's entire budgets. Now imagine how ticked the sponsors would get if they make this huge investment and Contador fractures a collarbone in the Dauphine which puts him out of the TDF. These are factors that team management has to consider. So its not just as easy as going out and signing the rider. With sponsorship money and economic problems, money and just not available like that.
