Veloflex still makes their tires the way Clement and Vittoria used to. If you pick up a new Vittoria, you will see that the tire seems stiff and not very flexable. (almost like a Conti)
When Vittoria switched their production to Thailand, the tires were made the same way as they were made in Italy. Sometime later, Vittoria got tired of people complaining about flats, so they switched to a heavier caseing and tread. Back in the day, a CX would weigh 240 grams.
