Brilliant reverse jinx by the great Samamba telling everyone Widar didn't make a step!!!

That was pretty insane in the end. Had a lot left.

Finn magnificent for his age, Nordhagen made a tactical mistake.

Tuckwell insanely strong btw. Could've maybe followed the front 2 if he didn't do all that work catching Nordhagen. Does he have a pro contract already?

I agree, but I don't believe Philipsen will become a climber at pro level. He'll add on more muscles when he's getting older and he's honestly already a bit too heavy.

Obviously for classics he's going to be insane, but everyone knows that already.
I don't think so either, but that just makes it more telling that every single 2005-born rider but Widar, including a supposed top climbing talent in Nordhagen, finished behind him.

Regarding age (follow up to the discussion we had yesterday) Finn is only a year younger than Widar, while Tuckwell is a year and a half older than Widar. Just a simple observation, not making a point for or against whatever.

That's a bit simplistic since Nordhagen could have finished ahead of him if he had played it a little smarter. Nonetheless a very strong result by Philipsen... the most impressive to me was Lorenzo Finn though. Kind of the opposite of Nordhagen, in terms of style.

@Samamba – what's the deal with Novak? Why does he keep getting bounced from PRT/WT trainee back to Colpack?

I am no Novak specialist, I found it a bit weird too that he didn't get a pro (or at least WT devo) contract last year. Won't have any problems getting one this year tho imo.

I agree with this. Nordhagen wasn't as "bad" as his result shows. He has been underwhelming sure, but he obviously would've done way better if he was in the wheels more today. His w/kg was definitely significantly higher than that of Philipsen.

Also don't think this Giro has the perfect parcours for him. Not hard enough.
