Today Nordhagen absolutely deserved it. He was my favourite for the final victory and that's a surprise he's not on the podium. Same thing for Widar and Finn. Philipsen a bit disappointing

Summarizing the race Jarno Widar certainly looked like the strongest before his crash. Otherwise Nordhagen shows that he is to be reckoned with the harder and steeper the race gets. Omrzel and Novak also looked impressive to me while Tuckwell certainly defended well but felt more on the defensive than the others who were a bit more active.

Lorenzo Finn and Adria Pericas were the ones who perhaps let themselves down a little bit but they were still there so they are certainly still top talents for the future, just not as impressive in this particular race compared to the front 4-5. Finn is a bit younger than the rest as well so with that in mind it was a very good ride still.

Albert Withen Philipsen was hailed as one of the favorites but I think we'll see more and more that he will be a classics riders rather than a future GT rider. More Mads Pedersen than Vingegaard. Or somewhere in between.

Basically comes down to it being a race with 32 teams of only 5 riders per team and no race radios so that meant that big breakaways were able to get away that had GC threats in them. All the top 3 got 1.24 to 2 minutes on the other GC riders from being in big breaks.

The spirit of Rabofail lives on, and has been passed through the generations, stage 5 of this race was just a warmup for the big return in July.

I thoroughly enjoyed the race, however, five rider teams do not work in this stature of race. It was particularly evident in the non-existant sprints, as I was looking forward to seeing the sprinting capability of Noah Hobbs.

Nordhagen didn’t win but, as the only rider in the top 5 or so that didn’t gain time in breakaways, he certainly confirmed his climbing talents.

Would have liked to have seen more from Finn without his crash and Widar to the end.

Shame no sawtooth TA style hilly classics stage suited to Albert Withen Philipsen as we didn’t really get the opportunity for him to do justice to his obvious talents.
