Several accusations about UAE TT bikes/setup being inferior to the competition. I don't know if that is true or not, but its really hard to imagine that Colnogo wouldn't be using the best technology to develop their bikes and that UAE wouldn't be perfecting rider setup. They have the, or at the very least one of the, best racers in the world.

I understand that its impossible to tell from looking at a bike how well it slips through the air, but this bike looks like they put some time into development.

Unless TP changed his position, set up shouldn't be questioned either, should it?

A lot of dramatic reaction from one bad TT, IMO.

Remember when Boonan made a comment about TP's Colnogo bikes several years ago? That hasn't aged well (TB did retract/apologize later).

Last year UAE really made progression in the time trials. This year it seems Visma has surpassed them again. This was already clear in Volta a Algarve, where UAE were dominant on the climbs and then got destroyed in the TT by Vingegaard (and Van Aert). Also in the Giro, nobody really noticed but secretly Simon Yates did a really impressive time trial in the rain, certainly compared to Del Toro.

Visma have hired a new aero specialist, Jamie Lowden, and so far his work seems to have paid off.

I don't think Novak and Narváez ever made much sense for a Tour squad, but I thought Vermeersch would at least be ready as a reserve?

My exact same thought about Wellens. Vermeersch was at altitude camp indeed and very strong in the spring also in hilly stages/mid mountain. Kind of the Van Baarle/Kiryienka type and would definitly be in my Tour squad. Novak can be an 9 on one day but a 3 on another (unplanned). But he's Slovenian so maybe nice to have. Narvaez I don't see as the type of donkey in a Tour squad. Wellens was great last year, but normally suffers in the heat.

Tbf, rain tts are more about taking risks and bike handling skills. Between Vine, Pogacar and others they still had enough good tt-results this season.

So last year out of 81 victories for UAE they had 15 ITT victories + 1 TTT victory.
This year currently they are at 42 victories with a grand total of 0 time trial victories.
I don't know what ''innovations'' they did in the winter but their TT setup is complete junk.

Interesting stat, but framing performance outcomes as a simple win or not win strikes me as an unnecessary false dichotomy. They generally perform well at TT's still.

Even with Pogacar they are bad quite often to be honest.
They are good but only due to one reason. They don't need to think, they only need to look to their powermeter and ride as hard as they can and leave the rest to Pogacar.

Bjerg wasn’t mincing words today. Think UAE will have a bigger problem with their loyal domestiques leaving because all the young ambitious riders just do what they want.

Bjerg can better shut up and not talk with the media about these things. He should be the more wiser mentor and shout out to Christen directly. You cant blame someone with bibnumber 1 (!) for trying his chance. But what to think about Bjerg who is riding for Morgado to sprint?! Why arent they riding for Almeida then? If one is to blame its the DS and the plan they make at the start of the stage.

So if we exclude PN and if del Toro wouldn't ride the way he did and considering Ayuso finished second at Catalunya. UAE really wanted to win all stage races prior to the Tour, on top of classics?

Now that is not just cocky that indeed is arrogant.
