So uhm latest news out of UAE seems to be that the two staff members who had 'tested positive' might just have a regular flu and were only suspected of having been infected by the virus.

Where are you seeing that?
And honestly, a - potentially errornious (not sure that's a word…) - cancellation of UAE Tour with just two sprint stages remaining probably isn't the worst that cuoldn't happen… sure, would have been fun to see more sprinter show-downs, but on the bigger picture; there'll be more racing.

Yes, the source link would be convenient.
And I was hoping the wind could've spiced today's stage, but...

Right... this might be completely crazy, but what if it turns out to indeed not be so bad? Even if those two staff members have indeed got it, they could just be kept in isolation, could they decide to ride the final stage anyway? Maybe without having it affect the GC - though it would be a shame, if there's crosswinds, and I assume they haven't actually had the podium ceremony yet… - and just as a sprinter show-down, just because… why not? They're in the area, everything's prepared.

An Israel SUN tweet also suggests that all tests have been negative so far.

Still doesn't change the fact that the UCI needs to be pro-active and test all riders and staff in the peleton - Better to be safe and sure.

Funny thing italians treated like lepers cause they're the only ones doing widespread testing...
Virus is already everywhere... it's flu after all

It's not. It causes flu like symptoms, but it's not an influenza virus. It's more like a less severe, form of SARS
