42 second time loss for Del Toro, so he defended himself well in the second part.

Its a big day for Remco but tomorrow its the first real test of the season for him. Hoping for a great battle on the final climb.

Evenepoel should be spending the night watching Primoz Roglic finest victories compilations, in fact I’m convinced it’s a big mistake not to bring the old man himself to some of these races to bequeath the ways in person to the kid.

It's a test for both.

It's a shame Vingegaard isn't there; he was the ideal gauge to see if they've made any progress.
We saw what happens to Vingegaard during EC last year when not in shape.
If he was ready, i think he would have ridden the UAE Tour. i mean he only has 3 races sheduled this year so far. Not like he is overextending himself. And with Vingegaard it's not a given he'll ride anything after the Tour.

For tomorrow, if I was UAE, I wouldn't set a high pace on the climb. You want to create chaos, give more riders from other teams the possibility to go for it. RBH doesn't have the team to control this, which means Evenepoel has to do it himself. Which makes room to make mistakes tactically, Paris-Nice 2024 is a great example of this.

Unless Evenepoel is much stronger and drops everyone himself with a high pace, but in that case tactics don't matter anyway.

Del Toro was beaten by the new and improved Vingegaard, Peter Øxenberg, or Sam Welsford as I assume Carlton Kirby will call him at some point this week.

42 seconds time gap, so 32 sec behind Remco after today.
More than expected for me (not for others on this forum), Del Toro also moved around more than expected for someone that has gotten good TT results before.
I definitely didn’t think he’d lose that much. Yikes.

A reminder that, after the MTF, they have three sprint stages from Thursday through Saturday, and could easily have switched one of those with today's TT to a) improve the pacing and b) ensure that all GC riders start around the same time and during the main broadcast. It's such an easy improvement and so stupid to do it this way.
Jebel Hafeet is Saturday, but yeah, I hate the way the TT is done too. And I really don't understand why it's not just reverse GC order.

Oxenberg one of those rare non-ai generated young Nordics who is apparently showing a good level in training and is their leader here, 11th a really good showing. I refuse to do a that O with a line through it.

That Swede doing well in Jaen yesterday was too far though, as was Johansen dropping the entire group in the crosswinds. We are one step away from Icelanders wining stuff, I don’t think anyone wants to see that.

Remco keep the jersey tidy, Toro will take it tomorrow. Why? How? Warm weather + double digit gradient is Remco's weakness and Toro strength.

Artem Shmidt is the first Ineos rider when ranked alphabetically after surname. I wonder if that's a WT record for latest in the alphabet.

øxen is the old plural form of oxe/okse (modern form is okser), so in english it is indeed oxen

The combinations are ALT+0216 (upper-case) and ALT+0248 (lower-case), if you ever feel like doing it.
