I did chuckle at the reference to chatrooms & forums. Wonder how often Tex & Fabricator check up on these things.

Wait how come he didn't know he was or how much he was getting paid? Surely he had signed a contract with Astana and the UCI were in possession of that contract? Isn't that a prerequisite for riding in races?

If it wasn't sorted out until the end of the year how did he race? Seriously these journalists who asks these questions need to be more aware of the UCI rules and on the ball when asking questions.

1: Just because the UCI has a rider's contract doesn't mean rules were followed. The UCI has a habit of not following their own rules to fit their needs at any given moment. Armstrong raced because Pat wanted him racing. Salary rules are unimportant when it comes to Team Pharmstrong.

2. The journalists in some cases are aware of #1 above, so there's no reason to ask. Others might feel that cycling journalism is a good job and they don't want to mess up the gig by asking questions that no one wants asked.

This is hilarious.

At this rate, it will turn into another $500k donation to the UCI.

Along with this perfect non-denial, denial:

I am certain he is telling the truth there.

Aside from the fact that there is no such thing as a Kazakh penny, I would be dumbstruck to find out that he had a bank account denominated in Kazakh Tenge (KZT).

He probably doesn't have a single Tiyin to his name.

As Forest Gump would say, Stupid is as stupid does.

Dave.

The 'Kazakh penny' declaration really made me chuckle, too! Funny

Thanks for that link, Swordsman. I remember reading that article, or one similar to it, back during the '09 Giro "Team Faded" debacle. After seeing some of the info presented in the thread about the "Livestrong Spin Bike controversy," part of this article took on a new significance:

The American cyclist even suggested his Livestrong cancer foundation might be able step in and bail out the team, but that seemed to be a long shot.

"While as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Lance Armstrong Foundation would not be able to fund the day-to-day operational expenses of a for-profit endeavor," Katherine McLane, communications director for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, said in a statement Wednesday evening. "We would certainly look for ways to develop a dynamic partnership to support the cancer mission and cancer survivors."

Upon his arrival in Venice for the Giro, which begins Saturday, Armstrong had told a small group of reporters that he hoped to find some funding to get the team through the end of the year.

"It could be a combination of people that have a shared interest in Livestrong and want to see Livestrong promoted around the world and believe in what we're doing," he said.

Interesting. Now that we've seen how much it cost the postal service to fund a PT team, how was the cancer charity supposed to be able to spare that kind of cash? And were LAF donors expecting their donations to go towards cancer causes or towards funding a cycling team?

Also, it would be nice to know if the LAF paid any of these teams money for the years that they had the Livestrong logo on the uniforms, bikes, buses, etc. Was the foundation a secondary sponsor? Was money flowing from the charity to the teams? Or was the logo on the uniforms as a "freebie" from the teams to advertise the charity?

Also, I wonder if Ms. McLane is still employed by the LAF?

Lance is a professional ...

...with stuff like this.

So much so that during the SCA Testimony, Herman actually had to step in and tell him to actually answer the question.

MR. HERMAN: Hang on one second. The question really was, do you recall being in the room, is -- probably calls for a yes or no answer.

LANCE: A. Yeah. Yeah.

Q. Obviously, you're -- you're deeply familiar with your contract with Tailwind that would require the payment of bonuses.
A. I wouldn't say deeply, but more or less.

Here is a count of the man's poor recollection:

54 don't know
23 I have no idea
22 I don't recall
21 don't think
20 I have no idea
18 don't remember
7 Not to my recollection
5 not that I know of
5 could have been
4 Not that I recall
3 can't remember
2 Not that I remember
1 not 100 percent sure (how much money he gave to the UCI)
1 I had no way of knowing
1 I didn't understand
1 I'm not aware
1 I don't follow
1 I doubt it
1 Huh?
1 I know where you're going
1 I suppose I would have known already
1 No. I mean, the name, you know, rings a bell
1 No. I -- I don't -- maybe that's possible. I don’t think I could. I don't -- I'm not interested in that, so why would I have said that.
1 that never happened. I would have remembered that.

and 1 instance of "How many times do I have to say it"
and 1 instance of "Which part of I don’t know do you not understand?"

Dave.

They are obsessed with them and have been for years. You know things are getting bad when they offer money to find out a posters identity.

Wonderboy is not handling his fall from grace well.

They would do that? Surely if it was anyone important they'd already know who they are?

Well, if they have offered money would that not indicate a bit of fear?

In the harsh reality of the world I am effectivley a non-entity other than the fact that I post on cycling forums, run a cycling forum and post semi abusive tweets @lancearmstrong and his cronies ( :D ) yet, I've been blocked on twitter, we had our forum hosts threaten closure last year for unknown reasons ( I honestly don't know who it was made the threats) but if people are willing to challenge little old me and my minimal impact on the world I bet he'll go as far as he can with some of the guys in here and anyone who questions him or loves cancer :rolleyes:

Armstrong said that he was unsure, but thought the salary payment was €50,000. He said he kept repeating throughout 2009 that he was riding free because the situation was unclear.

"That's because it was not clear from the beginning, it was not clear until the end of the year. These guys said, you have to take a salary and I said just pass it through to the foundation."

TexPat:

You worked for the guy. Is he that hands-off with his money? I get the feeling that he's the kind of guy that calls his accountant every day.

Erm...well it wouldn't be very good if I didn't cut and paste stuff. By people posting articles, links for video's it sometimes helps people find information about a certain issue, favourite rider, favourite team, etc.

I think he was asking you to put time and thought into a take for a change rather than all the time and thought into your post count

Read the legal documents on the other thread from TexPat's case with Lance - pre-requisite for anyone on here or hte general public to ascertain what a piece of sh** Lance is.

Psst, Lance, I'll tell you who he is. Just place $50k (I hear you've found $50k you didn't know about) in non-consecutive notes of mixed values in safety deposit box 666 of Banque Louis, Klausstrasse 19, Zurich together with the key to a room at the Park Hyatt and 50g blow, and make sure your best brunette hooker is at the room, and I'll send you an email with his identity. ;)

(Don't worry Race, I don't know who you are, I'll just tell him you're David Walsh - he'll believe that. ;) )

He could have done a Robin Hood all the way, saying he's forced to take the 33.000 but will spend it only on charity.
