I think they are simply better of outside WT with auto WC's than in the World Tour and they realise that.

It's so depend on their investment capacity and their recruitment pool, if they continue to stick with Nordic-only riders, which I don't think would be compatible with a mildly-successful WT team.

They could have a long-shot option of targeting Skjelmose for 2027 (if he doesn't renew meanwhile), but they would need a strong GC support team to convince him and I can't see that happening.

I don’t think they are far away from being a good WT-team.
The squad (27 riders) have today with the addition of Pedersen, Skjelmose and a random Norwegian like Foss or Træen + Lund Andresen as a replacement for Kristoff would’ve made them a top 6-8 team on the UCI-ranking I believe.

The question was regarding the possible recruitment pool with only nordic (only Norwegian/Danish riders), not about the money.
I mentioned investment capacity on my previous message. Of course you could think about Vingegaard, M Pedersen, Skjelmose and others but I don’t think they have the money to even get close to Skjelmose or Mads. Others like Foss, Asgreen, I just don’t think they would be a good investment - too much cv/salary for what they can actually deliver at this stage of their careers.

Indeed, but investment capacity doesn’t depend much on the strategy of signing only Norwegian/Danish riders. Of course they will never become a top WT team with a budget on around 20-25m. That would still be the problem with an open recruitment pool.

So basically, the recruitment pool is not at all a limitation to become a good WT team. The budget is.

UnoX: 280
Cofidis: 147
Astana: 145
PicNic: 85

Great result for UnoX today. Cofidis with a good day too. Astana the big looser in frankfurt, but limited the losses with a very good day in Switzerland. Velasco got completely boxed in what costed them 100-200 points. In Switzerland they made around 50 unexpected points and fortunato got time for the gc, but as he is very bad in itts, i think this will not matter much in the end, as he needs more advantage to finish in the top 10 of the gc

Tomorrow could bring big points for astana. They should get 350 points in turkey with a chance for 20 additional points in the sprint for malucelli. In Switzerland I think they will finish something like 10th, 14th and 15th overall. Higuitas points will probably not count (maybe 1-11), but Tejada and Fortunato should score them 120 points. Additionally they have the one day race in belgium, where they maybe can score another 100 points

4th in GC should be possible, that's 275 points.

The deficit of Astana including today is 733. A little bit too much for Astana to overhoul Picnic tommorrow already, but it should be possible to bring it back to aprr. 250 points.
Almost, but not quite:

I make it 963 points for XDS Astana today:
Romandie: St. 5 3rd = 30; GC 4th, 14th, 17th , 56th= 348
Tour of Turkiye: St. 8 1st = 20; GC 1st, 2nd & 27th = 355
Faeme Ardennes Classic: 1st & 2nd = 210

Picnic PostNL 260 for GC in Romandie & Turkiye

If Poole, Bardet, Onley, Eekhof, Anderesen and Bittner stay fit for once they should have the edge against Cofidis. From what I hear PicNic finally realized they need to start riding for points.

Cofidis just doesn't have the same quality when it goes uphill, and Aranburu looks tired so i wonder if he's going to be really good next week in the French races.
