Thanks! Hard to say whether that's harder than the extra laps on the circuit would have been.
It’ll all depend how it’s raced. Obviously it’ll suit France and Italy and Spain if those long (by British standards) climbs are ridden fast, whereas Norway or Germany or Ireland would prefer if everyone takes it easy until the circuit.

I think it’s great to have the first portion out on the moors. It would surely defeat the purpose of having a Worlds in Yorkshire if the whole event was a 14km city-center circuit. Plus it mixes the terrain up a bit; you couldn’t put a 5km climb into a <15km circuit without turning the whole race into a climber-only-need-apply affair, but having the long ride into the countryside at the start gives the the chance to do that.

I get the feeling the circuits are going to be a lot harder than they look. Especially after 250kms of racing.

Just over half the total elevation is that first 185k. I think it's more or less the route of TDF stage 1 in 2014, so not that taxing. The rest of the climbing comes in the last 100k with the loops around Harrogate. So it's definitely backloaded in that respect
The thing with the 2014 stage was that the last of the climbs was still 50+km away from the finish, so the break was always going to get caught before the finish, and the sprinters were always going to get back on, and everyone was going to get up and ride a harder stage the next day. It was also 95km shorter than the Worlds.

None of those things are true for the Worlds race (well, except that the break will obviously be caught, just possibly not before the first time through the finish).

A pure city circuit would be pretty boring from a spectacle POV, and the early climbs give a good chance of a break to form early. I think there's potential for a nice race here, and to win you need to be good at races like Amstel or Fleche Brabanconne.

IMO the best Worlds parcours are the ones that are just difficult enough to give a good variety of winner.

Just converted the routes to a format I personally prefer.

For those of us planning to be roadside for the race where are you intending to be and what do you think the best options are for seeing the most action.

Ive never been to Harrogate before but I'm hoping for somewhere on the finish strait or the final ramp but the pathways on the ramp look tight so maybe I'm dreaming thinking I'll get anywhere near there

Anyone know if there is any events in Leeds on the nights of the final weekend of the RR's

Might as well get rid of the mixed TTT if only 12 countries are interested, entered in it. Just another balls up by the UCI like the stupid changes to the world cup track season and cutting off the trade teams.

Not just that, none of the top TT riders for both men and women are in the race. If they were, the dutch would win it every time by a big margin. The trade team TTT was pretty exciting though and the trade teams had a stake to win for the sake of sponsors.

Looking at the start list of the mixed relay TTT I notice that the first team is a mixture of different nationalities. Not that many big names are starting. Germany and Italy seem to have a strong team.

I guess those starting times are British time zone? There are two 40 minute gaps, probably because they're doing two laps?
