Spratt, on paper. Dygert possibly but she looks very spent.

This feels like Rio, with Dygert inheriting the love of the myopic USA fans that Armstrong and Abbott had (don't take that as a negative, however as I mentioned on the Clinic thread, I have noticed that those two riders held much more sway with the American fans than Guarnier, Stevens, Hall, Wiles and others, and it feels like Dygert is inheriting a bit of that, possibly with being Armstrong's protégé on the road) - she's had the surprise but dominant ITT, and now she looks like finishing a heartbreaking 4th in the RR.
Should probably specify Kristin, not Lance, considering many don't follow women's cycling closely and you're talking about American cyclists.

as well as completely destroying herself
Yeah, can't help thinking about how similar it was to Valverde's tactics when he tries to ruin a chase. crazy that they rode so inefficiently that AVV rode the circuits quicker than any of them, despite being solo for 70k

Moolman-Pasio got her best ever result in the worlds, and it's mainly because she wasn't strong enough to stay with the chase group.

Sorry if this was posted since my last post, but if you watch this and still think that the DQ was wrong, I'm not sure what to tell you. This is not bike racing IMO. I was already convinced that the DQ was correct prior to seeing this additional footage, but this makes any argument against DQ silly IMO.

If the video is 'local' (not streamed), the officials would have no way to see it until after the race.

As to the winners legacy, no one but the google fingers will remember this (especially if he does well at the WT level).

@105 kilometer breakaway!!! I seldom have anything good to say about women's racing, this is an excellent example of how a bike should be raced!!

But why wait so long with making it public?
And since they're following him for quite a while, surely it's from an official camera-moto…

Not as tough as Mendrisio, tougher than Geelong.

I'd say it's along similar lines to Valkenburg and Richmond, but the obstacles are better placed to make it an interesting race, rather than there being one obvious key climb. Stuttgart maybe?

Seems much harder than Valkenburg and Richmond. Both had the peloton together until the very end, in the men's race, including the sprinters in Richmond., bigger groups with the ladies.

Well that was one for the ages. Incredible performance. When the gap came down to about 45 seconds or 50 seconds I thought they were just maintaining the gap and leaving her out there but then the momentum went out of the chase and it was over a long way from the finish. The American showed her inexperience and possibly cost herself a medal.

Why wait is a good Q. They could have saved face by releasing it with their decision.

I think that most of the motos aren't streaming (they post video later). That moto has to get the footage to the officials at the finish. Even if the passenger was an official, maybe they wanted to get the jury's decision so that it wouldn't be a one person decision.

EDIT: All of the 'stuff' aside, DQ was the correct decision.

****Belgium
***Netherlands
**Slovakia, France
*Italy, Australia, Denmark, Spain

From what I've seen this week, I honestly don't think any other nation can win. I really am leaning towards a Belgian win. Mathieu is my individual favorite but I can easily see him burning too many matches at the wrong time and missing out.

Ugh. Would have been an absolute travesty for him to win after that.

It's just a tv camera. The director chose to show the race instead of a guy in the back. Camera guy and TV director has nothing to do with UCI jury as far as i know.
And they were very clear yesterday that they did NOT base their decision on the footage that was broadcast on tv. People simply failed to believe them, so now they are showing the footage.
