UCI suspicion index 11 years on

Thought it would be interesting to have a review 11 years on from the 2010 Tour

Link to the index here

People subsequently (2010 Tour or later) caught or admitted doping and had results voided (so not counting the people who were subsequently cleared like Rogers or Kreuziger, or who admitted doping, but did not have the 2010 and after results voided like Leipheimer and Hincapie and Zabriskie)

10 - Barredo
9 - Menchov
8 - Hondo, Nocentini, Siutsou
6 - Petacchi, Reda, Santambrogio
5 - Ballan, Contador, Kolobnev
4 - Armstrong, Brajkovic, S. Sanchez
3 - Iglinskiy
2 - Di Gregorio, F.Schleck
1 - Pliuschin
0 - Koren, Mondory

Corrections are as always welcome.

Looking at the list with the benefit of 11 years of hindsight, it seems that it was a reasonable indicator. 8 out of 27 people at 6 and above on the index ended up being caught

lol, incredible how Thomas was a 6 and he was basically packfill back then. I wonder where he would've been in his TdF winning form.

Huh? I assume you mean Geraint? Where is Geraint Thomas in this list? Else can you please be more specific?

Dave Zabriskie, 0, took a doping suspension for USPS.

Thanks, but while he did serve a doping suspension it was not for something that he did after the list was published so he is under Leipheimer/Hincapie category.

Just to reiterate, the idea of this thread is just to see with the benefit of hindsight how good the list ended up being in terms of predicting the likelihood of being caught

Just saw a commercial on YouTube for State Bicycles fixies:
Floyd and Z are in it...its kind of funny...I guess

The contained data values mainly were before Gadret & Voeckler started the French Renaissance. Hence why their score might be lower than expected.

Also Popovych was rumored to have ridden rather clean after Bileka tested positive. So from full program 2007 to nearly clean in 2008 to solid doping because he felt save being back with Armstrong & Bruyneel at Astana naturally should give suspicious values. Even if data was only contained from 2008 onwards.

On-Off-On is probably the most stupid thing to do if you don't want to get suspicious results. Might have been just the same with Cunego in the wake of Mantova and his brief return to top in 2011 & 2012!

Just looked at this again. There are lots of illogical rankings but for example, how on earth could Chris Horner be a zero ? This story was dated May 2011. By then Horner had already proclaimed himself as the" second best climber in the world" after being unable to hold Cadel's wheel in the mountains when he was at Lotto.

What the list highlights to me is the problems with the UCI passport and why it hasn't caught many riders.
