My good friend Big Black would beg to differ!

Australia isn't all that proper in its treatment of dopersauscyclefan94 said:Contador has now been made a "Honorary citizen" of Pinto even though he was caught with Clenbuterol and high levels of plasticisers in a test. So why is cheat being heralded as a hero?
The mayor of the town has said:“the victory of Alberto Contador is the triumph of honesty, sacrifice, effort and hard work every day.”
Then he also gets the backing of the the Spanish Cycling Federation and Spanish olympic Committee who are suppose to be fighting the war against doping/drugs.
Supposedly in the linked article it says that Valverde was given the same treatment.
Bunch of corrupt fools! It doesn't help when you have government ministers and heads of sporting bodies backing someone who has been caught with an illegal substance in his body.
The sport will go nowhere with those morons in charge and making comments like so!

scribe said:Back then, that stuff was seen as scientific progress, not cheating. It was only considered a problem when people realized the athletes might actually be getting permanently hurt from the substances.

you obviously have no clue whatsoever about doping. It is not specualtion. he tested positive!c&cfan said:wait a little...
ACF, how old are you?12?
common sense and law says this: "innocent until proved otherwise", it doesnt says "guilty until proved otherwise".
the thing about contador being a doper is just speculation so far (as the plastic stuff) so if all pinto's people are wrong, blind, stupid etc, you are much worse than all of them. you are also stupid blind and wrong because contador is not guilty (so far) and you dont have common sense or respect for the law and for those people.

facts:
contador is the best stage racer with an amazing talent and palmares at 27. the clen did nothing to burst his performence. however, they should have waited a little (just to be good in the picture)
Thank you.Altitude said:A positive control is no longer evidence of doping? When did that rule go into effect? Right around the time Aldirto returned his non-negative I suppose..
No, to be clean as possible!dolophonic said:This is the kind of statement i find indicative of a weird set of puritanical beliefs some people hold aloft.
Cycling is a great sport and has been one for a long time. What kind of place do you want it to go? MLB? NFL? NASCAR? no thanks!

The Hitch said:Relax.
Pablo Escobar, who among thousands of other murders, blew up an entire commercial airliner, men women and children, to try to kill a man who didnt even board, is seen as a saint in Meddelin- a real city of 1 million people. 20 000 people turned out for his funeral alone.
Pinto on the other hand is a tiny town south of Madrid of about 50 000 people. As a native son, Contador gets support from his people. Especially since his doping is still in theory unconfirmed. You think this is some great moral outrage?
Besides i have long been of the opinion that all top athletes dope. Contador is nobody compared to Nadal and the "founding fathers of Spain" - the name under which on current form, the football team will be known as in about 200 years. There is a lot of evidence that they dope. Contador gets caught because he gets tested PROPERLY. The others dont because their organisations are unwilling to test them as thoroughly. Is Contador really so much worse because his organisation isnt afraid to test him?
Moreover, as i believe most top cyclists dope, i find it difficult to tak it all out on the Contador Piñata.
When we live in a perfect doping free world, perhaps it will be UNFAIR (not outright outrage) that a doper gets a little support from his friends.
But in todays situation, both real world and sport, i just cant see the problem in such a minor gesture.
Marcus135 said:I think this is a good thing for the sport. However they should have waited till he was confirmed innocent or guilty. If guilty left it and if innocent then given him this. To give it to him now just puts more support behind him that he may or may not deserve. If he is innocent then it is a good thing for the sport.

M Sport said:The poster brings up an interesting comparison, Warne was most definitely a doper, in fact if you believe the bullsh*t story about his mum supplying the masking agent tablets (diuretics) then you are applying a massive double standard against Contador.
In fact you could even compare the treatment Pinto is giving Contador to the favourable treatment given to Warne by Australian teams allowing him to play some games during his suspension.
auscyclefan94 said:Warne is an overweight spin bowler who walks ten steps and bowls the ball. He hardly would need to dope to get through or bowl better. Fluid tablets would make sense especially of the hot South African sun beaming the players. His mum supplying him the drugs is irrelevant when comparing the two cases as we are talking about the drugs and their supporters themselves not the suppliers of the drugs.
