I wonder if the quartet withdrew their names because of the upcoming fallout from the USADA Armstrong investigation.

WTF is going on with our track program? 2 guys, that's it? congrats to Jimmy and Bobby, they deserve it, but really? no pursuiters? no sprint threat? I't really sucks they took the madison out of the olympics, but we wouldn't have had a team capable of podium there either. sad state that track racing is in in 2012.

Good to see a new generation of American cyclists coming in. Much better than sending a bunch of former Posties who are about to retire. Time to end that era.

Can only think the USA Cycling is so cheap they didn't want to buy a sixth plane ticket, because the Z Man deserved that spot hand down, a freaking Prologue does not equate to a full TT!

I believe the TT entrant must be drawn from among those that are in the RR team. Odd requirement (it wouldn't really bloat the number of competitors that much), but not within the scope of US Cycling to change.

The number of competitors from each nation is decided by the UCI. For some of the events you mention the USA got none.

The UCI has screwed up track racing in general by making it an indoor winter event (in the Northern hemisphere).

There is a lot that US Cycling could do to further track racing in the USA. What would help is obtaining some big time sponsors and promoting some big prize money events around the USA.

I know UCI limits through qualification, but I am a little surprised that we don't have more quality trackies, and track has always been a winter indoor sport (6-days), that can also take place outside in the summer, no excuse for us not having better riders. the US is all into cross now instead of track, but we really aren't producing very many top level cross riders either, yet American racing still has too short, flat crits as their main diet, doesn't make any sense.
oh ya, support Jack Simes effort to bring 6-days back to America!

I couldn't find the team kits thread, so I'll post this here. Team USA released pix of the kit for the London games. I think they're great.
