Yeah. Certainly Dombrowski. If you look at how he rode in those American races last year, he's nowhere near that level now. At Garmin, American riders reach their potential.

His first year is always like that for Sky neo pros.

Wait till next year.

Look how Kennaugh developed, was bit ****ty in his first year too and now he's dubbed to be the super dom at next Tour as Froome and Porte were the last two times.

JTL was never a big talent btw.

Is JTL such an amazing talent, or was it a purple patch and a bit of self-promotion subsequently taken up by the sympathetic media and fans?

As for Dombrowski, he should stop crashing. His ride over Albula shows that he hasn't lost what it takes.

In Dombrowski and Tiernan-Locke, Team Sky have really managed to kill two amazing talents. Or is this all part of the plan to make them shine next year?
Both have been complaining that they are struggling to adapt to the training, which is way too hard for all riders who are human. JTL has even stopped following their training plans now, which has resulted in Sky probably not letting him ride any more races this year...

Pecharromán.

They've never signed anyone from that team. Most of the Americans they have taken were home grown, not much change for them (you can throw Morton in their too). Not sure how a rider underperforming in their first pro year is proof of poor practices at their WT team.

Dombrowski's talent hasn't been killed at all. It's his first year in the pro ranks and he's only 22. He's said multiple times this year is purely about learning. Plus he's had his fair share of crashes this year. And he's nowhere near what JTL has become, don't forget about his ride in the Tour de Suisse. He showed there that he still has the talent (and JTL hasn't done anything all year). For this race, I think we'll have to wait for the big mountains and see what he can do there.

BTW, on the topic of Dombrowski, does anybody know if he was one of the Sky riders to come to Colorado only a couple days before the race?

GC top 10 after stage 2:
1 * Lachlan David MORTON Garmin-Sharp 07:31:22
2 Mathias FRANK BMC Racing Team 00:00:02
3 * Peter SAGAN Cannondale 00:00:11
4 Tejay VAN GARDEREN BMC Racing Team 00:00:11
5 * Lawson CRADDOCK Bontrager Cycling Team 00:00:18
6 Tom DANIELSON Garmin-Sharp 00:00:29
7 Darwin ATAPUMA Colombia 00:00:35
8 Damiano CARUSO Cannondale 00:00:41
9 Christopher BALDWIN Bissell Pro Cycling 00:00:41
10 Gregory BRENES OBANDO Champion System Pro Cycling Team 00:00:41

Anybody knows Obando (great name)?

he's called gregory brenes and is maybe the biggest costa rican talent in past 15 years. also rode in europe strongly as u23 and elite and was part of movistar ct team in colombia. I think he's also cousin of the costa rican brenes who took a medal I think in 1996 in mtb(albin brenes?).

His name is Gregory Brenes, not "Obando".

And he's a well-rounded rider. Used to be a good prospect back when he rode for Burgos in 2010 but he stagnated, largely because he didn't have access to good races anymore.

he never stagnated. he only improved but never got a shot at movistar pt somehow.

Brenes was in the Movistar continental team in 2011-2012. He was pretty good in the Vuelta a Colombia in 2011, I seem to remember. Unfortunately last year the team downsized from a continental team to a Colombian domestic team due to sponsor decisions, and Brenes lost out.

that happened this year

I often agree with you, but this time I got to disagree Amador is the bigger talent.

How old is he now? Do you reckon he still has the possibility to break through in Europe?

What kind of finish is today gaps to be expected?

Will probably be a bunch sprint IMO, one for Sagan. GC guys have Beaver Creek the next day, so doubt they'll try to create any gaps.
