usada ban / stripping not affecting lance

It is crazy. Lance just had a twitter run in Canada and hundreds showed up in support. I guess all this is for nothing by USADA in the end.

It looks like everything will be as it was before, a he said she said argument. In the end I didn't think a usada judgment would really change anything...its not going to affect lance, or the sport. All it did was give the anti-lance crowd some satisfaction.

Waste of tax dollars.

Be patient. Give it a few weeks and let more of it settle in. Marc McGwire still has fans, too. Arnold Schwarzenegger could be another example.

These whole PR/spin thing reminds me of something from Star Wars or Men in Black.

These Jedi mind tricks are really starting to get to me. I thought I saw a cheating cyclist oh no I didnt...........wtf?

:rolleyes::D

The USADA gets about 1/4 of its funding from the USOC, about 3/4 from a US federal government grant. The latter is not direct funding, since the USADA is a non-governmental organization. The total USADA annual budget is on the order of 15 million dollars, which is the equivalent of approximately 3 M1 Abrams Tanks.

A waste of tax dollars, I see the spin has got to you. USADA are out to protect clean athletes, to show children that you will get caught, clean sport without cheats is the goal.Of course Lance is carrying on this way, if he didnt how would it look. Use your brain a bit and see behind the facade of normality and stop buying into the spin that Lance and co want you to believe.
The story will unfold in full yet. There will be plenty of court cases where lance will have to stand up in court and his ego will eventually be shot down.
Its not the end of this by a long way.

I...I'd love for him to do that here. The "come and say it to my face" would get a lot different when someone actually did.

hehe I was thinking exactly the same thing cav. The weaselly little runt would have been snotted :D

I'm thinking along the lines of Kevin Mealamu and was it Cannon? Kearns?? a few years ago in the middle of a scrum.

I'll take the 3 Abrams tanks that might save a few battle buddies in afghanistan over an agency that prosecutes retired cyclists, lol.

A better alternative to all this would be to award lance's titles to the one and only true champion of cycling, and possibly the greatest cyclist of all time. A humble Russian hero, whose body was forged in Stalingrad. The one and only true cycling legend...Denis Menchov!

Armstrong is not retired. He is banninated.

Say it with me: banninated.

No more triathlons, no more cycling. Because he is not ALLOWED. Forcible retirement, perhaps, but only due to the bannination of his UCI-assisted shenanigans.

Just like a bucket of milk still looks like a bucket of milk when you add a single teaspoon of water to it, so LA looks like he has titles, and accomplishments. And credibility.

But over time, each of those new teaspoons of water, of evidence of complicit actions, corruption, shady dealings and behind the scenes agreements now unearthed, waters down his legacy. Until you look at the bucket afresh and realise it is but a watery whiteness, not fit for consumption. Only fit to be flushed down the toilet, to join the sliced up blood bags and cotton swabs from years ago.

If they were not affecting LA, he would not need to beg people to not cry for him. Here's a hint: the word "don't" is typically subvocalised, and the true message is, "Cry for me. For the death and destruction of my legacy".

LA is desperately crying for help.

This very much affects him.

He looks like one of those tinpot middle eastern dictators enjoying the adulation of his loyal supporters while the tanks roll towards the compound.

Holding seven fingers up? The man's utterly deluded.

"not affecting" = circle the wagons & launch smear campaign

If by "not affecting" him you mean he has started a double campaign of full on circle the wagons and discredit and smear everyone who is telling the truth, then you are right.

No matter how awful it gets, Lance must play the 'Baghdad Bob' role. He has no other choice. I don't think you can interpret much from his behavior.

Lance's value as a sponsor is diminishing. That appears obvious.

Lance, as microchip notes, is very much in a bubble now. You will never again see him expose himself to an unfriendly or possibly unfriendly reporter. That's gotta hurt him when he is marketing himself.

While Lance has his fans, I don't see how he can attract new fans--especially new kid fans. He's a fading sports star, even without the destruction of his 'legacy.' Seems to me that he is only going to retain his none-to-bright fanboys and girls, and that's about it.

Now, where can I get me that DopeStrong jersey?

I didn't expect Gunderson to be dejected because he's stripped of his titles. He's a fighter, he has always been. He won't fight only if he knows it's a losing battle. No matter what USADA does, he'll still go out there and act like he owns the world.

But I'm happy he's stripped of his titles (now it's up to "UCI the Corrupt" to follow through), that's what really matters to me, that he didn't get away with it. Let him say whatever he wants.

Seriously, if he comes to my town (Toronto), I'd go there and call him out as a cheat and that he ruined the sport I love, right in his face. What is he gonna do? Hit me?

He will now be forced to hold PR rallies at TrogdorCon, where he is still considered a Level 99 Cyclo-Mage.

It was at a Cancer Conference....what do you expect with thousands of cancer groupies in town?

Sanctions are based on facts, not how good a media campaign you can wage

Watch out for Eki, he is likely to run up beside you and spit on you while Lance makes the zipper the lips sign.

Getting punched is probably less threatening than the gangster threat.

Dave.

Should've spent it on 3 more tanks...
